Right, i'm just about to get BroadBand installed in my new house, they provide the wireless router (as they say it will only work with theres).
Is there anyway i can use my old much better reliable wireless router.
I.e can i can the MAC address of the router to match the new one provided so it doesnt cause an issue?
Is this easily done?

Who is the provider?
I have - just playing around as it was pointless LOL - plugged one router into another and it worked. Might be useful if it's only the wireless part of the new one that is rubbish...

dunno about the home hub ones but with my BT business broadband line one of BT's own routers was provided (called a 2wire) and it's proved to be excellent. far better than the old linksys one i had in pretty much every department, and also didn't require my BT credentials setting up for the ADSL connection at it somehow grabbed these from the equipment at the other end.

no i can get into the router no problem.
but i think it needs a firmware update, as the router only currently allows login ID with @btinternet.com

home hubs ARE shite.
2 problems, 1 the home hub wont work on non-BT (as it wont let you enter another username) 2 O2 probably wont tell you your username/password so you couldnt type it into the home hub if you wanted (it will be hard coded/hidden on the router they supply)

my work gives out routers to go with our hardware and a lot of the time that involves BT customers calling to get their usernames and passwords so we can configure our routers before they get sent out so it is possible to get that info if you need it. just call them and ask. dont say why thou!

Slevin,
some ISPs (ie Sky) won't do it. it's part of their T&Cs that they use their own!!!
bit of a pain if you want to send thema checkpoint ADSL router i admit
