Default jacket potatoes

ok, how do you make them?

regardless of how we wrap them or cook them or slice them, they always turn out shit when we've tried to do some at home, so any pointers as to what the best spuds are do start with?

thanks

i slice them part way through, makes them easier to split when cooked

then bung them in the over for 1hr 30min to 2 hrs on about 180.

thats it, use tescos baking spuds, nothing special, then fil with butter and cheese

I have one everyday I work from home for lunch. The nuke option suits me fine but you don't get the crispy outer.

cut into the top, microwave for 8 to 10 mins depending on size and then into a hot (220 deg C) oven for 35 to 40 mins.

crispy on the outside fluffy on the inside.

They need to be old, baking potatoes.

I know, I can't believe the price some shops charge for a Jacket and some slop on top when the potatoes cost pence and the fillings probably come out of tin.. I know it's got to be cooked for a while but still can't cost much more then Ł1 to prepare then they charge you Ł5 for it..

Yup, 10 mins in the microwave, or 12 if its a biggy. Then 30 mins in the oven if you want it crispy, but it isn't necessary! Just dont forget to prick the skins all over first, or it'll be like a scene from baghdad inside your microwave

Hour and a half in the oven at 200 degs, more if they're big feckers.
I have a spiked holder for em. The idea is the heat travels up the metal spike and cooks them from the inside at the same time.

I dont have a microwave, if I wanted all my hot food to taste like shit I'd get the ex back.

Hour and a half in an oven at 180degrees with a skewer through them

Crispy skin, fluffy middle

Microwaved taters are shite.

Speaking of microwaves, I have one, but I only ever use it for heating up Covent Garden soup or leftovers......microwaved food is always shite

If you put it in the microwave for ten minutes then bung it in the oven for half an hour with olive oil and a bit of salt it doesn't matter what potato you buy, it will always come out lovely

I have them fairly often as quick snack, just whack it in a shallow bowl with a dribble of water at the bottom, pierce all over with a fork then place in microwave for 5 mins, turn over and do the other side for 5 mins. (touch longer if big so its not hard bits inside).

Then add whatever filling, cheese/coleslaw, tuna/mayo or cheese/beans etc. Lovely.
