Bedford and the piss up after!
Well just got back from a thoroughly enjoyable weekend!
First of, it's a big congratulations and round of applause to Clare, Gemma, Steve, and all the Beds group for putting on a cracking track day!
The number of cars on track was perfect at all times, and using the GT circuit was a stroke of genius!
I can't complain about the food, as I didn't go across for lunch, but I wandered in at 3 p.m., and the nice ladies made me a jacket potato
Making the day track orientated was the best move by far. I see poeple have complained about the static part, but to be honest, I don't even look round shows any more - for most of us, if there's not track action, we wont go.
Anyway, the cossie never made it, so I soent the day begging for passenger rides.
Cliff - car goes well. Shame about the clutch, and spinning. Twice. At the same corner
Alex - one of the best drivers out there today. Supremely fast in a comparatively slow car, and always having a laugh
Porkie - that Sierra is insane. I just love the grip on slicks - so much more to come from that car too . Cheers for the rides out mate - cool tussle with Sean, and avoided the black flags nicely!
Martin - Metro is superb! Stupid fast, and just has more fun factor than any other car at any track day. Must have done twenty laps in the car, and we didn't get passed once, and overtook EVERYTHING
Pat - excellent driver. Took me out in Rob's silver festa. What a cool car! Amount of fun for the money spent
Marco - Focus diesel on slicks. That was so much fun
I even took my Astra turbo diesel round the circuit, and gave that a real pasting - was hilarious. 70bhp So so slow, and so little grip.
Funny moments of the day were
Sean's lovely very high speed spin in front of the pits.
Oranoco's spin in front of the pits and going on an excursion across the grass.
Sean on remarking how good the Exige is: "Fook cossies, this is where its at", and then getting black flagged for noise
Cliff deciding to have a little play with Rob, and then spin three corners later
Marco taking a short cut to beat Craig through the chicane
After the track day, we all went back to the hotel, and to be honest, I remember very little of the evening.
Here are a couple of pics that I don't even remember taking!
In Lee and Martin's soon to be trashed room:
Lewis and Craig:
Straight man:
.............and as Clare said, "Nice shade of lipstick Martin"
One thing I do remember is rugby tackling Martin, and then ending up with a wardrobe on top of me ................ and that Clare is going to drive the Metro to the Ring so Martin and Lee can sit in the back and drink wine
Anyway, top day and night all round really Cheers once again to all involved, Clare for putting up with me, and Porkie for convincing me to actually go
Right, water needed..............
