they surge badly when trying to run high boost at the bottom so you have to limit it they also dont make quite as much bhp at the top but there is many factors that could have affected this so could be very much differernt on your engine due to the spec
afaik surge is when the engine cant consume the air nothing to do with wastegate. but to small a wastegate can cause boost creep as gas cant bypass turbine quick enough. thats how i understand it anyway.
Do check the head bolts are proper ford ones, They will have KXA1000 4wd and KX1000 2wd.
Mark
thanks mark il check on that. getting from woodford and he said genuine so should be ok. ive ordered late type bolts as thats what its got in it but its got 2wd head ? should it be early bolts for 2wd and late type for 4x4 head ?

Careful from Woodford. I ordered standard stretch bolts and before i put them in, Mark said let me see those. Turned out they werent proper stretch bolts and didn't have the correct code number as Mark stated above. Luckily he had some in stock

Thing is they are not too expensive from a Ford dealer, at least you would get the genuine thing from there too.

il have to check them when they get here. the reason i went to woodford is have receipts from previous owner from woodford for engine thats in the car totalling 3k for block, gaskets etc. and has been a good engine no failures and some hard abuse.
headbolts are here cant see any part number on them ? should they be threaded almost right to the head bar an inch ? and headgasket is here part no 24RNZ07 -311110-00 is that right for genuine wrc ?

The part number is around the top ring of the bolt where you put the tool in to.
