our lasses mondeo key has stopped doing it's job...............the batterys fine and it's been to the local ford garage and the key is transmitting but the car wont open etc......................ford say they need the car for an electrician to check over...............any ideas..........cheers Pete......

turn the ignition on and off between position 1 and position 2 6 times inside 10 seconds (I mat be wrong on that, google it) and there should be a beep, press the locking button and it should re learn.
My old focus did it all the time. Feckin annoying, especially when the doors where de-locked

Davey is correct with his instruction, but it's actually 4 times in UNDER 6 seconds. Leave ignition on after the fourth time & press any of the buttons on the remote after the beep sounds. Should then be re-learnt.

the rfi will be fucked they will change it then take a day to get the car out of full lock down i done it they allways lock up even changing abs pumps

Its not the little metal connections on the key fob is it?My mrs fiesta remote key has done it a few times. I just take the key apart and bend them so that they are touching the battery.

shit i meant rfa. it is a little fuck up box made by ford and it reads the key and tells
the pcm and all the modules it the right key

............yeh but the key works...it's the key fob/remote that dont.....

is this mondeo old or new if its old it wont be the rfa it could be c/locking module unplug
the module for 2 mins that reset the module plug it back in and the key starts working again

I'd go with that.

I've had a few with this fault when I worked for fords.

9 times out of 10 that would cure it.

took it to the garage yesterday morning on my way to work, then i got a phone call asking "pete what's wrong with the key"....................nothing at all by the looks of it...........it just started to work after ourlass dropped it..........thank fuck it was a mate's garage or i'd probably have been charged............

if you put any infra red remote infront of a digital camera or video camera (switched on before anyone says) and press the buttons, you should see a flashing white light. No flashing lights but new batteries - your remotes buggered. when you take the ford remotes apart theres the part that looks like an led that you can see this with.

Just a tip for others. hth.
