Default anyone got a nova turbo??

got my engine in the car nova but hit a few problems few problems.
the turbo intake pipe wont fit past the crossmember.
do you just cut it a bit, looks a bit far to bend.

also i cant remember what colour wires from the nova loom are the oil temperature, and what ones goes to the alternator.
and where do i connect the wires going to the bottom of the sump to. they go to the round plug on the let loom, but not sure where they go on the nova loom.

any ideas?

cheers

My mates into novas (has one for hill climbing) a few years ago we went to look at one for him to buy, dont near portsmouth i think?.

It was originally mustard yellow, but had been sprayed over with a clear laquer with pink metalic flakes, and still had the og brown interior, was one seriously ugly car. , actually the irony of the right hand smiley colour here isnt far off!

was an Irish chap selling it, took us for a spin, and fooook me it was so quick for a 1.6, a differend league completly to an rst. and thats coming from me, a passionate vaxhaull hater!

yes you have to cut the front cross member i will sent you a pic later on of how much, there is NO wire in a nove loom for the Oil Temp, there is only oil pressure, the wires on the bottom of the sump is for oil level and is not needed simple cut this wire off.

If i remember rite its the Blue/White wire for the alternator

ok ive done the intake for turbo.

blue and white is connected to the alternator now.
blue and green i connected for oil pressure (down near filter)

that leaves me with a blue and yellow wire (cant remember using this when i put my xe in)
and a green one near the coil. which iirc is for the rev counter, but what i dont remember is where you connect it into the engine loom.

now the biggest probelms i see myself having is getting a hose on the bottom of the rad now the f28 mount is in that way. and getting and piping up an intercooler.

Green one is rev counter mate, and is on of the the 3 little plastic connnecters that were in the drivers footwell of the donor car, nova doesnt have those plugs, so it must have been wired directly in somehow.

cheers chip, just checked and its there. i'll sort that last wire in a minute.

any tips on that bottom rad hose, or is it a case of looking for bits of pipe that may fit and try and throw a few together.

as for the intercooler, i think i'll save that real fun bit till last. lol

dont sopose you know what the fittings for the oil cooler hoses are called do ya? i need to get some pipes ordered up for me new one but not sure what the fittings are called or what size they are

sorry mate, been ages since ive used a standard oil cooler, and I just used all the standard fittings so didnt need any.

I think I used a flexi pipe from halfords of all places for the hose from the rad to the plastic pipe that comes from the back of the block round the front under the pipe that goes into the head, if thats what you mean?
Doesnt need to be anything specific, anything that fits will do, and doesnt even matter if you go up and down in size a bit, I was running my LET in the back of mine to the radiator in the front via a bit of 19mm copper tube 6 foot long and the water pump still didnt give a fuck, you cant really go wrong with it mate

im going to use a mocal cooler and gonna probably get 1/2 bsp fittings on that. but its the other end of the hoses where they go into the block im not sure on.
the 2 hollow bolts with holes in them next to the filter. im looking for the name of the round bit they bolt through. if you know what i mean.

yeah thats the pipe im looking for. the f28 mount gets right in the way, but if i can get the right sized flexi pipe i think thats easily sorted.

You mean the adaptor that goes between the oil filter and the housing?

If so, just take it down pirtek with your cooler, and they'll make you up some pipes

yeah i used that exhaust stuff on my xe from the down pipe to exhaust. not bad stuff, lasted 2 years on mine no trouble

i'll take the old rad hose to halfords and have a measure up against them down there.
should get the right one that way.

Haven't you got this sorted yet LOL

Personally I'd put that oil cooler in the bin or atleast flush it through a LOT.

Yep, bin the adapter, fit a shorter central screwn in bit (its too long to go on filter without the adapter) and get it running like that, they dont really need the oil cooler anyway unless tuned.

so i can bit the oil cooler all together for now to get it running?

any idea where would sell the shorter centre?

i will fit a mocal cooler, but would be nice to have one less thing to worry about for now.

that would leave me just the intercooler and pipe work till i can try and start it.
