Default Intergra DC-5

I saw a integra DC5 today, have always thought they look awsome.
They are getting realistic in terms of prices to.
Has anyome had any experience with them or have any pics of their own DC5's ?
Got to be the way forward i think as evos and scoobies cost £££ to run

Pete

My friend has a facelifted 2005 DC5 in Black and the handling is really impressive, specially coming out of tighter corners with the standard LSD.. its pretty quick in a straight line (220bhp) and with a Gruppe-M Induction kit, the noise when the VTEC engages is absolutely amazing. The interior is very nice, Recaro seats are the best about IMO and its all extremely well put together

He got his from Andy @ 200bhpcars who is a really well respected trader on www.itr-dc5.com which is the Owners Club for these cars..

Cheers,
Grant

i also personally love these, i recently spent a lot of time on Alan broads touring car ( DC5 ) as well of a fair few road cars.. fantastic drive, can be very quick for a 2L aspirated screamer!!! 240BHP at the hubs is a nice level...

They are reasonable to run. And specialists like TGM, CPL and TDi North etc make them even cheaper to run, they need to be serviced 12.5k so not too bad. And there not bad on fuel as I get 30mpg in my CTR on average.

Realistically for a decent 2001 51 plate your looking at around 10 - 11k and then a face lifted 2005 05 reg goes for around £15k (from what I have seen). Clearly all being imports prices are going to vary.

Awesome cars ive been seriously coverted spend a lot of time on Dc5 owners club and you can always belt a rotrex supercharger conversion on for 400bhp + and have no problems at all as Hondas are that good?

Mine is a dc2 lol, i have never driven a dc5 but those who have after owning a dc2 find them really really good but the dc2 more involving to drive. Tbh i was considering buying 1 but for the money i think the s2000 is probably a better buy but it depends what you like. There really nice inside imo with a modern dash and nice recaro seats a lot more modern than the dc2 but same again depends what you want out of the car.

Go test drive 1 and remember thrash the living shit out of it, i mean like your trying tobreak it and i can guarentee you will like it

I was building a 20vt mk1 golf but decided the best option is to fuck that off and do the integra as a track car, who needs massive turbo's and 4wd to have fun on a track

Thats how you have to drive them though, i think thats why a lot of people who have owned old turbo cars cant get away with them

I remember taking my mate out in a knacker of a crx vtec i had years ago, he was a dedicated pure ford cosworth man and i mean proper blinkered rs boffin, he was trying to climb out the door when i was racing a audi s3 coming out of roundabouts in 1st gear screaming the cunt out of the 145k mile engine He ended up buying it off me in the end lol

I never understand how people who own UK spec DC2 Type R's with 170bhp say that.

there 187bhp and the uk is a better spec than a 96 spec jdm and not much difference between them and a 98 spec. In the real world the ukdm and 98 spec are not much differnet more of a difference between 96 and 98 spec jdm imo. I could understand your reasoning if the ukdm dc2 didnt come with a lsd like the jdm does but it doe, where as there are major differences between the jdm and ukdm civics like 20bhp and a lsd lol

Not saying the JDM Civic isn't better. But it's exactly the same when it comes to the Integra in my eyes (again the JDM being the better car).

It comes with an LSD yes. But you can buy one for the EP3 at £250 from a JDM civic or around £450 for qualife LSD.

Anyway there are plenty of trade offs I'd rather have the K20 engine over the B18 and the newer car. As I'm sure you know there aren't many low (or even average) mileage DC2's around now.

I have a DC5 Integra mate, had it about 2 months and is the second one i've owned. I fookin love it, best of both worlds between performance, reliability and economy. Driving normally will get you 35mpg (long journeys) but you can drive it like a loon and still get a pretty respectable 22mpg.

Couple of pics

Let me know if you want any more info!

See its all down to personal preferece i prefer the b18 to the k20 VASTLY as it has a larger vtec range 6-9k rather than 6-8k in the civic and comes on vtec WAAAAAAAAAY stronger than the k series which just seems to make a bit more noise. Dont get me wrong the civic is a good car but just nowhere near as focused as a dc2 is. The point i was making about the civic was that there are more diferences between jdm civics than there are between jdm dc2'2. The jdm civic has the same motor as a dc5 where as the only difference between dc2 motors is the manifold.

Thanks Chris,
That looks awsome.....
I agree with your points ... i'm fed up of unrealiable cars with turbos. I think the teg has everything and it looks amazing to far better than looking than the DC-2.
I think this will be my next car!

Have you driven a civic type-r? if you have does the dc2 have more of a punch to it with the vtec engagment like the s2000 does or is it pansy kick like a civic?

I've never driven a Civic Type R but been in a few so can't really compare. DC2's have never really done it for me . I've had an S2000 though which is more fun than the DC5, but a bit more of a handful to drive in the wet etc and not as practical! When the VTEC cuts in on my DC5 its very punchy, moreso now i've add an Injen CAI! Noise is unreal!!!!!

The cam changeover is rougher on the B18.

The the older VTEC just has the high-lift cam switchover, and the newer i-VTEC adds continuously variable cam phasing and makes it smoother.

The DC5 is the same as the EP3 at higher rpm. It's just newer technology.

Looking into it further the JDM CTR is quoted as 215PS which is 212bhp and the UK one is 197bhp so a 15bhp difference. The JDM DC2 Teg is 200bhp and the UK spec is 187bhp so a 13bhp difference.

So although I originally got it wrong, the point I was trying to make is still the same.

And just for reference the DC5 is at 220PS, which is 217bhp.

The JDM cars are all setup to run on 105RON petrol as well. Which all helps.

i aint to clued up with the i-vtec but all i know is a civic felt boring compared to my dc2 as in not enough vtec range and no but kick as such. It might have just been that the car is a lot more refined than the dc2 and quieter so didnt give the feeling of kicking in as such. All i know is the dc2 is perfect for what i need it for

The point i was making is that there are more differences between the civics than the integras.

ie jdm civic comes with recaro seats as standard, different cams, a lsd and less important things, where as the engines are EXACTLY the same as is the interior and gearbox in the dc2's with the only difference being cosmetic and a manifold plus the ukdm is better equiped tha a 96 spec jdm which blows your argument into the weeds. Yes the ukdm dc2 is better equiped than a 96 spec jdm fact

Anyway this thread is about a dc5 so why we arguing about what i prefer lol i never ssaid 1 was better just my opinion

Not than a 98 spec though.

But let's put it to rest.

And if your considering a DC5, as has been said the S2000 is a great car for similar money some people consider it to handle better than the DC5, as it does have double wishbone suspension unlike the DC5.
