had my consultation today and they think im better off just having tretment on one eye as im short sighted so will use the right eye for close up work and dont have anything done to that eye and lazer the left eye so i can see distance, so ive just got 1 contact in my left eye to see what it would be like and.. i dont like it they say my brain will kinda sort it out after a certen amount of time but it just seems to blurry to me, and its still up to me at the end of the day, so if i have both eyes done and get the best vision i can they say in about 5 to 10 years i will probaly need reading glass,s and that was the reson for leaving one eye not lased.. but i think well im gona need glasses or contacts anyway i cant realy win, what do peeps think and whos had it done, bye the way the customer service was very very good with everything explained realy well and not pushy about anything and giving me all the options but i feel i would be better having both eyes done i only have a very small pescription right eye is -1.75 and left eye is -2.00 short sighted

Get them both done mate - probably the main reason is to get rid of your glasses or contacts. Who cares if you need glasses to read later on in life, everyone probably will. If you are going to fanny around with one contact lens you may as well put 2 in??

Mine were done by ultralase 3 years ago, been fine!! mine were about the same prescription as yours - right eye was worse (my shootin eye lol!!)

No point having cheap where your eyes are concerned.

isnt it like £400 per eye now. im thinking about it as im short sighted too. would be interested to hear from a few more peeps on here that have had it done.

My dad is doing this at the moment. It's really strange only having the one contact lense in, but you will get used to it.

Edit to say, people are getting confused, if he has laser treatment on one eye, he wont need a contact in the other eye, his brain will learn to adjust.
He is just using one lense at the moment to see what its like.

im short sighted aswell & ive been wearing glasses for the past 2 years as ive missed so much but id rather use reading glasses than long distance ones if you know what i mean, ive also got a rugby ball eye or something & i got a quote for a grand an eye, im going to see about it this year anyway, people say ''oh but what if it goes wrong'' but the procedure is getting better & better all the time with very few going wrong,

i've been waering glasses since i was about 6 so i'm not bothered

besides, my nose is almost as big as that fella from pimp my ride uk so the glasses are hiding that too

iv tryed it all day yesterday with one contact in and its fookin shit and the other thing is when you only have one contact in take a look at the street lights at night its all blurred and im not to sure i can drive like that, im deff going to have both done and as for prices dont be fooled into thinking its only 400 quid an eye thats the base price , there is LASEK thats the bottom one and still uses a blade to cut the top part of your eye then the laser does the rest, then thers LASIK this uses no blade and uses the laser to do both jobs then theres, WAVEFRONT this maps your eye and the laser takes out all the imperfections so im having LASIK and WAVEFRONT thats the best ya can get but the price goes up by a very lot but who cares its your eyes, now some myths that peeps have wrote in the past, peeps have said ya can only get laser treatment once.. wrong it depends on how thick your cornea is and how bad your perscriction is, so mine is only -1.75 - 2.00 very little they can laser up to 10.00 , and peeps said it only lasts 20 years or so wrong.. i asked ultralase all these questions yesterday, now price for one eye with lasik and wavefront £ 1895

i cant mate firstly i hate glasses! and i work with some pritty violent kids!! and the first thing they go for is ya glasses when there kicking off..

I dont like my specs either, but i wear them because its a blur if i take them off i went to see about contacts a few years back but neither me or the optician could get a lens in my eye, he said my eye lids are too strong

A friend of mind has had laser treatment, cost around £2000 per eye.
His eyesight was approx -4.00. The treatment went well, but he STILL has to wear glasses for TV & driving. He's a paramedic so still has a lot of use out of his glasses.
Naturally he's dissappointed, but still notices the improvement.

My eyesight is rubbish, I need glasses to find my glasses in the morning.

Do you wear contacts normally or just whilst you are trying this one out?
I find wearing good quality contacts really comfortable. Kids couldn't go for them when they're kicking off!!!

update on this guys is a bill for nearly 4 grand having it done on the 12 feb so will let ya now how it goes.. im shiting ma pants already but ive gone for the best treatment you can have and wavefront that maps your eye out

Had mine done by ultralase 2 years ago cost me £3000. my prescription at the time was L -5.25 and R -4.75. Paid extra for the wavefront as it offered a much better chance of perfect vision. Before the op couldn't really make out the top line without glasses, now i can read the bottom line.

Downsides: wearing plastic eye guards on a night for 2 weeks so you don't catch your eyes.
3 lots of eye drops every 4 hrs for the first 2 weeks.
Vision still took nearly a year to get to my current prescription.
Reduced night time vision including slight double vision.
Don't want to sound negative, I would still have got it done even if i knew this.
