definately prefer the power delivery of the m5 and the drive of the m5.
maybe the m3 will prove itself out on track but its not the everyday car the m5 was.
maybe im just too old now

i remember back in the day it was competition to see how low and hard you could get your e30 bmw-dragging along the ground and bouncing over every slight imperfection in the road.........seems so long ago!

You and me both pal. Will was all excited when i suggested i get some sway bars, dampers, springs & bigger rims for the E46 today. Then i awoke and said:
"Fook me, i sound like a customer now, that will wreck it"

Still might though...

You don't need power at the 'Ring...

I've taken a 75bhp Mini round there in just over 10 mins and it was 95% of the fun in either my Scooby or my MINI GP.

Speaking of those 2 cars - the GP is faster by about 30 seconds I reckon, and given they weight about the same and the GP has about 80 less horses it highlights the fact that handling is more important (Scooby do not handle well )

If I were you Stu I'd go in something fun - no point taking a Radical for example, as the drive over there would be one of the least fun experiences you can have I would imagine! lol

You dont "Need" it agreed, but when it comes to the point you cant go any faster with skill, all you have left is power.

Stu - go for the sensible option - 530d Sport

You get the looks of the M5, the comfort, handelling and best of all, with it being a denzil you get economy.

Also, you get the feeling that there is enough power but not too much - so you will have to work hard to get it round the 'ring and making the most of corners instead of going "powwweeeerrrrrr" all the time

The biggest weakness in any race team is the driver.....

You can always go faster with Skill.... F1 rules slow the cars down year on year and ever time the drivers get more out of less!

Because we are talking about cars that can handle the Nurburgring at a decent rate of knots, safely and reliably Pete. Cosworths simply dont fit into this discussion.
Get a focus rs stu, get it chipped and they go well, went to the ring last year with a few others focus lads and they all went well.
Managed to do a 8 56 on my 2nd full lap / 4th lap ever round the place so if i can do that then i also think most other people could as well

Dunccoss

Our first trip a couple of years ago encompassed a Focus RS - very very capable car and extremely surprising on track
