I cant find anyone listed anywhere who has gone substantially faster, hence the topic about my thoughts.
I think he just wants an M5 anyway though
Buying one isnt an issue in the slightest, taking one to the ring is the "Issue" hence the topic. If you want me to elaborate, lets pretend i have already bought the M5. Which shall i take?
Talking to JJ about the running costs of his might solve that though.

JJ reckoned he would do a compelte set of rear tyres (ie from new to fucked) in a weekend at the ring, its those running costs I meant, not your daily commute mate.
If you can afford it, go for it with the M5.
It will be easier to pass traffic with, so will allow you to be on the limit for more of the track, as often on the tourist days you end up stuck behind peopel for a few corners etc.

Definitely buy the M5!
If you're gonna hoon in around in a big old 5 series (not my choice on track because of the weight etc), then why not make it the best one you can buy?

Can't get much better than an M5 round the ring, if you don't get one and have a crack, expect you'll always regret it.
Obviously have the finances to do it, so just do it.
I appreciate all you say, but for me getting pissed past on every straight would wear a little thin before long.

They are quite soft and get hot very fast so that on such a long and demanding extremely high speed circuit they have goen off after just one hot lap. I had to run stupid low pressures to get them to performanything like decently for more than one lap. After 2 it was honestly like driving on diesel! A few people drove and experienced it after 1 good lap ("Shit, whats wrong with the car, keeps understeering like mad") LOL
It has to be said its largely due to the fact that the sierra cosworths chassis is about as stiff as moist dogshit and thus extremely harsh on tyres.

The fact that the car with very few mods (brakes, chip, induction, suspension and tyres) would be capable of a sub 8 min BTG (in the right hands), does it for me . If I didn't like my car so much, it would be my choice . However, I appreciate the "each to their own" adage .
I appreciate what you are saying though, so if we are able to get together at the Ring, I would gladly sit gunshot to see if I thought the car had more to deliver .

Get an M5,i can vouch for them being the bollocks on the ring having owned one and been there 5times in it,ask comedy dan i took him for a passenger lap in mine, just get some decent pads and discs as they eat them on the front. I personally am not bothered about times and comparisons, its nice to know what your doing but i think pushing yourself against the clock can only end in tears
