Default Big build getting back on track

3 months or so back I decided to pull the plug on my resto thread. Very few people knew the real reason for that and only one person on here was told & that's because he pm'd me.

To clear this up an explanation. 13 months ago I suffered a TGA not nice & a lengthy recovery period. I was told a full year to be back to full sharpness & they were right. However its the side effects that caused my problem I started to suffer with bouts of depression & they got worse about 6 months ago. If you have not suffered don't try to understand cos you cant. However the medication has worked & I appear to be free at this time.

I went to Marks today to kick start my build & now have a schedule from Mark to its completion in Feb 2016. I will update on parts purchased & pending as we approach the problems we need to solve. Fuel Pump , Voltage Booster & EGT to can bus module are amongst the choices to be made as is injector choice. I will go into the maths if I don't get shot down too badly.

Depression affects sooo many people, it is awful, I had an episode in 2008/2009 and it is too hard to describe just how crippling it is and as you say, if you have not been there then you will never understand....have a good read up on mindfulness it is a good long term solution.

Thanks lads but I want to put that behind me now & press on with the car.

These 3 items are required on the new build I will explain why. Ive purchased the Pump but am awaiting Mark to agree the other parts are OK.

Here are the Calcs to show why a Protec p1 is required & my Automotive Eliminator cant cope at my Spec. The aim was to find a single pump to cope.
The criteria is 1000bhp on Methanol @ 4bar of boost we may not push things that far but we wanted a single pump to cope with that.

Here are the cals for Methanol .First you require the Brake specific fuel consumption of the fuel quoted by the manufacturer. Methanol = 1.2 for a comparison pump fuel is .6. This means you will require twice as much Methanol as pump fuel.
To calculate the Flow required in Lb/hr = Bhp x bsfc or 1000 x 1.2 = 1200Lb/hr. Divide by the weight of a gallon of fuel = 1000/7.29 = 165 gall/hr

So we need apump to flow 165 gall/hr @ 3.5bar ( fuel pressure) + 4 bar ( Boost) =109psi.
I found only 2 non mechanical pumps that were still on the flow chart at 109psi. My own Automotive pump rated at a 1000bhp is off the graph at 90psi so useless at these boost levels.

The Protec Veyron P1 is quoted at 119gall/hr @ 110psi at a Voltage of 13.5V.
If you increase Input Voltage the Pump will flow more & we already use a 16v Accuvolt system in the car. At 16v the P1 will pump 149 gall/hr so we are on the right track.
Using a FMS Powermax will increase Volts to 18v & is controlled by the ECU so only adds voltage when required so the pump does not get hot. At this Voltage the P1 cranks out 173galls/hr. The P1 is rated to take 19v input so that’s safe & is the solution.
We also need to monitor EGT at each exhaust port so the EGT module will send the info from 4 'Stinger' probes to the can bus of the ECU.
Im also sending my cam cover to be machined today to accept the cam sensor we are doing this to open up the area for my dry sump .

To the sad trolls that follow my threads like a One Direction groupie you are permitted to use your 'Rod is boring' tags to excess on this thread because to Fuckwits knowledge is boring .

Rod, How does the powermax work? Is it like an inverter? And do you run an uprated alternator?.

look rod, all that science and numbers and the like is fine on your rebuilding your car thread, this thread is a get well soon thread and we dont need to learn about cars here

and ive added some tags as you requested

ps, is that fuelling for a built in safety margin or to provide the power needed?

Dojj.
Its in the Restoration section not the Casualty section . I realise that a large section off here are only here for the beer & technical talk about cars is the last thing they want. However I know from other Forums that true Petrolheads are interested in the facts not the banter. I will change the title so you don't get distressed & will send a PM so you know where to send the flowers & get well card .

Its the fuel required if we try to produce 1000bhp @ 4 bar of Boost. If we do it will nearly max that pump out. To get even more boring tags I will go on to the maths of Injector selection at these extreme boost levels that's even more boring Dojj.

We run a 90 amp alternator it can supply all we need. Wont have full beam, Wipers & Screen heaters on whilst running at 215mph . Will explain about the Powermax in another post . Will wait till Mark OK's it.

Have worked on the new loom this morning. Have completed the Interior part of the loom that connects to existing Plugs in the car. Will wait until the engine is built to do the bit in the engine bay. The Jenvey inlet, Dry Sump & Cam trigger will be different so wont guess at this stage. Think I will stay with my existing coil set-up as we know it works & allows large plug gaps when used with the CDI.

So you are getting a bigger pump to supply more fuel to injectors that will be able to flow for 1000 HP
That bit I get
But won't these injectors be too big to run at low revs then? Or an I still stuck in the 90's?
