Its a nova not a mondeo

Its going to be mega bumpy in comparison but any small car on 17's is like that.

Exactly why I said it would be awful on the road.... If its bumping it's not gripping

Thats then down to damping and spring rates.

Bad on back roads, A roads and motorways it would be fine, just means its a bit more of a challenge to drive than your normal car.

Awful is not a word I would use to describe them IMO

Im going to be getting some totally different wishbones on the front at some point anyway to widen the track slightly probably, i'll have a word with you at the time and perhaps do both together.

Got no shafts to worry about, so not too big a deal making it wider, just some longer wishbones and track rod ends really, i'll leave the standard hubs as you are only talking a couple of % wider track, so not terrible for ackerman angles.

Need to sort out what to do with the arches first though, dont know if I can be arsed with loads of bodywork!

Pmsl @ the people calling it a chav'd up nova, the fucking thing would piss over alot of rs turbo's etc

fucking has an awesome spec with a 'different' style paintjob, the bodykit isnt lairy at all.

this is a very old pic of my mate ben's Nova that he is re-building

is that chavvy? or isit just all Nova's are 'chav-tastic'.

chip it just seems abit amazingly thought out in some ways then not in others, like the roof? spend 9k on a strut brace, why leave the roof not carbon? or the panels, as surely weight loss on the roof is better than the strut brace? also are the windows still glass? it just seems to me alot of work has been put into certain areas then none in other places if the above is right?

in my opinion, the airbrushing/colour looks completly utterly wank, it stands out for the wrong reasons. but also its such a cool car at the same time from a mechanical point of view, ie the engine suspenison, and out of interest dont btcc lumps put out around 300bhp standard? or is that just modern day? because taking all the rules away has not really made much of a difference?

mega cool car mechanically /but wank looking
And there is an rs turbo what would lap faster that my money would be on but youll probably find out that summer next year

Its not finished in those pics mate, I certainly cant see it ever venturing out on track with the glass still in tact, but it keeps the dust out for now till he has sorted the polycarbs.

Besides, the car cover ends up spare to be sat on the ferrari this way look, lol

You would probably be amazed at how little carbon panels actually save you in terms of weight. I replaced a lot of panels on my track car with carbon a while agi, and the weight difference was 11kg. Dont get me wrong, the original items had been extensively lightened for track use, and 11kg was (in my eyes at the time) a decent enough saving to justify the ridiculous cost to have one off panels made. But it wouldnt be for everyone.

I remember Groms car very well when i used to love on Mig a few years ago, great looking car. I went on MIg again about a year ago to ask if the car was still about and what happened to it, no one seemed quite sure.

He cut and remounted all the rear suspension etc...

Great looking car

Sorry mate but you missed my point entirely
my point was that if you can spend 9k on a strut brace whats going to save exactly fuckall weight, then a carbon roof is nothing really, as it will save weight in the right place. vroomtsh, whats your track car? got any pics?
also lightweight magnesium wheels or panels are no trouble when spending 9 grand on a strut brace.
would love to see it on track.
and what about the btcc engine? how much did the xes make in btcc spec?

again im not slagging this car, as it could be an amzing track car, its just more thought is needed in place in my opinion.

Highest ive seen quoted for a BTCC XE is 308bhp

I suspect that was a reverse head one though.

so whats he gained over btcc if all the rules have been taken away?
Better powerband/more revs?
Not trying to cause an argument chipl, just curious about this nova for some reason

I believe that the valve sizes are the biggest factor that he has been able to improve on, im afraid I dont know the details though.

I think people are just wording it wrong, It looks like your everyday nova, unless you know what it is....

If you was plodding along a road and see it, you wouldnt think anything else apart from "oh no, look at that dick in a nova!"

I love the work thats gone into it, dont get me wrong.... but it does just look like your average "nova"

I nearly even bought an XE Nova... I do like them

he didnt spend 9 grand on the brace, he got it made by a mate in F1 manufacturing. To buy one would be about 9k lol.

ok well thats prety irrelivant anyway, as its obviously still alot of effort, what i was saying is abit wasted in my opinion as it would have been alot more beneficial doing it to the roof.

chip - looks like its progressing good, would pop down and try lend a hand but its just too far away when im next down south id love to come see it and maybe help abit depending on how much time i have?

Well me and young alistair here, are going to be starting work on the 27th, and hopefully finished by new years eve, working silly numbers of hours on it and with a couple of other mates lending a hand, so fingers crossed I wont need a hand with anything after that

OH MY GOD...! that car looks pathetic.. now, I realise air brushing is a talent, but keep it away from cars please..

I had a Nova SR, great little motor for when I was 17... why are grown men still playing about with these I appreciate you are always on the Net and it would seem you have no life, but seriously how can you genuinely believe that it is the tits of a car.... yes its may have some trick bits (TOTAL waste of money) but it looks shit FULL STOP

the equivelent of putting martin hadlands escos engine in a flippainted, airbrushed escos on 20s....

fair play though, he made a car he wanted regardless of the fashions or whatever at the time.
