Indeed, hence using a nova, if it was in a cavalier shell no matter what you did to it, you could ALWAYS make a nova lighter if you did the same things to that too.
Plus I think he just quite likes novas anyway

It would need a proper touring car driver to do that, and I doubt it will ever have one, as its Grom's car for him to drive.
I guess it would beat the times he could do in a touring car though, as then the driver would be equal.

I couldnt possibly comment on who would win, as I know nothing about both of your driving or anything about your car, so if you expect me to start an argument about "what would win" then you have me mistaken for someone else far younger or more stupid

..so your saying that if you put a touring car driver in that nova he would be able to lap as quick as a proper touring car?

come on chip im not wanting an argument about who would win the race im just saying if he ever gets this special machine built id like to put my money where my mouth is and have a good rip round the track with it think how much respect it would get for keeping up with a 1 ton 600 bhp wrc escort?then people would look past all the gay shit and see the engineering

He should be far quicker, as its so much lighter, has more power, and shares the same suspension etc.

The devil is in the detail though, it would take a lot of time to get the castor and camber etc to how the particuarly driver wanted it, so it might not be on his first lap, but it should certainly be capable of beating a heavier car that has no technological advantages over it IMHO.

Im sure it would be close enough either way to convince people of some things they didnt understand beforehand

..ok chip so what you are saying the budget is on par with a touring car and if that was allowed in the btcc next year it would be a resounding winner..begs the question, why dont he write to that jim will fix it bloke?

I wish you wouldnt keep telling me what Im saying, as you havent got it right once yet

He wouldnt be allowed in touring cars becaues the engine is too big a spec, and the car is too light.

If they said "bollocks to all the rules, you can run with more power and less weight than everyone else" maybe he will win it, but the odds of that seem pretty slim and im fairly sure he hasnt built it with that in mind

if they did that then all the cars int he championship would be lighter and faster and hed be fucked anyway lol, It could only ever win by the limitations of the other cars.

If you started trying to build an escos to a similar relative spec for the same budget you may as well piss in the wind IMO. a WRC escos will certainly cost more

cool little car

Used to have a bike years ago that was built with the same thinking an old 350 LC, tune to F2 and then take past what they allow , bigger bores carbs and head work to suit the mods, that used to be interesting when it HIT 9500 rpm

BUT

What im more interested in NOW is what the fuck was "The Volvo Incident" by the looks of at least one of the parties involved think I may be more interested in that (pics and links )

I am not a fan of nova's or anything FWD does not interest me at all, but I can see the engineering and the spot on engine and suspension work which has gone into it.

but what the project realy smells of is a rich chav, with a bit of brains has asked the right questions for engine and other work and has fucked right up by putting a fucking donkey on the bonnet.

Awsome engineering gone into that but realy not a fan of the styling, realy gone off over the top exterior mods on novas think they look best with just a clean gsi look.

Rear suspension looks like its a fully tubbed out back end on coilovers exactly the same spec as a BTCC car, I cant help it if you just dont happen to understand that
as if im meant to be able to be able to tell you everything about the spec of the car from that angle it just looks like a nova with a rollcage and a silly low rear end.

why is the back end lower than the front end?

i still stand by what i said earlier...

Well i still really like nova`s just for the old memorys but i ( my opinion ) think the car looks stinky, but im all with the super engine and fancy carbon shit, and serious handling, i also understand all the time, effort, money ect but ask my self why he opted to make it look like what most people are calling "a chav mobile"

But its all a matter of opinion and im sure theres plenty of people who are not into fords think martins car looks like a chav piece of shit too, but as we are a little biast we seem to love it and respect it for what we would love ourselfs

Still worth alot of money and for sure it must shift so credit where credits due.

Each to there own i guess

Whats chav looking about it?

The "mule bonnet" is a bit off the wall, but how is there anything about that car which is remotely chavvy looking?

Chip, to be fair.. Ben said this after you only posted this pic http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/1309/novapepe.jpg

So it is hard to tell anything about it?! Id have thought/posted the same thing, but later read that it has tubbed arches etc... which you cant see until after

That bird was going out with a lad on the nova site we were talking about earlier in this thread, so as she was pretty fit, I thought I would go and start poking it, which I was doing for a while, so she dumped him and was seeing me instead, he didnt have the bottle to say anything to me about it when he found out, but mysteriously when I was down there one night dating her, a brick was through the windscreen of my volvo when we came back to it from the restaurant

And far more controllable and responsive than a normal 300bhp turbo motor like is quite common in a nova.
SO much harder to get that power from N/A

FACT this nova is a proper weapon
Hey it even has a pic of bosh man on the bonnet

Seriously tho
I find it hard how a guy that clever to build a car to this spec time, effort & money to go & ruin it with that rancid paint job.
He would get far more respect if it just had a decent paint job with no stupid poofy pictures

I'm not a fan of its looks but like Chip its the engineering thats impressive.

Some serious cash spent on that car

My only query with running engines at those revs is that simply wont last 5 mins on the road so really its wasted.

If it was just a trackcar then I could maybe handle coughing up for a rebuild every year.

10krevs on that engine is about 2000km use till rebuild time

Chip I can get some adjustable bars made for you

The design has now be changed as the crossmember brackets were too low and causing the XM to flex even with a Hockley kit installed, I've now had some plates laser cut to make a bracket very similar to the Protec ones but to accept the rose joint we've used on the tie bars.

If you want a set made I can have another set done for you mate

Sounds good jonboy, i'll have a set of those off you in the new year then I expect.

Flex isnt really a problem for me though, ive got less weight in the front than even the lightest of trackday novas normally have!
