this case wont get to court if you aproach it correctly,
had a nice speeding charge thrown out in lockerbie about 6 years ago,cops had my speed recorded ok,but got thrown out on 7 technicalities and not one £ paid to a solicitor,and i was well over the speed limit ,aledgedly!!

Mines isnt and doesnt get above 130
and IF thats the case then that CANT be your speedo in the vid, unles it is of course, hmmm?
you got a picture of the mileage as it is now, becaus if its nine months and you dont do mental miles then it shouldn't tie in with the vid.....or does it?

a good lawyer will get you off saying its a clever bit of editing

when i had wennys escort van at brunters for the fast ford thrash the speedo was right round pointing at the bottom & i was only recorded at 130 something so how can they use a vid off the net as proof of speeding
i chuckle to my self every time i get on the motorway & my speedo says nearly 80 but the gps speed is 70 speedos are always wrong making people think they are going faster than they are

I got caught doing 100 in a 30 in my fiesta rst , got took to court for street racing or pomoting a time trial, got thrown out because wasnt recorded

i got done for 132 in a 60 a few years back. ended up with a 4 year ban and a couple of hundred hours comunity service.
i was happy with that as i was expecting jail. good thing about it though is that as it comes off your licence after 4 years from date of conviction when i got mine back it came back clean

Couldnt be botherd reading all that so thought i would put my pennys worth in.
I know somebody that got caught in a subaru doing 135 but as the car was a grey import it had the speed limiter and could only do 112 i think.
he got away with it as it proved that the car could definetly not go that fast & the case was throwen out.
If you can prove that your can definetly not do that speed then i think you have got a chance.

FYI plenty have people have been nicked for speeding by posting vids on the internet AND also for bragging on threads exactly the same as this.
The police will have your IP address from YouTube and will be monitoring exactly where and when you post about it.
The police have a specialist dept of coppers who do nothing else but trawl forums and websites for exact things like this as well as other crimes.

I have just read the whole thread now, so obviousley there were no speed cameras,but just by putting the vid up and hve your name against it,they must be taking that as some kind of admission of guilt.
If they are taking you to court about it and other people have been done for simula (see Redkops post above) then they must have a valid case against you in some state or form,you just have to make sure you have a brief whos better at the law than the cops.

I think people are missing some of the key facts here base on what has been posted.
1. Video evidence from user bragging
2. Witness Statement (guy next door)
3. Admission of guilt from bragging on these forums
4. IP address will be lisited for every post made.
How do you we know if the witness has said "I seen this fella roaring past our house at excessive speed and recognised the car. I later found this video of the car on the internet where he claimed to have done 140mph"
Also I dont think the guy caught is being fully honest here and is not posting up the full details, where did the 143mph figure come frome, that speedo only goes to 140mph and the police wont say well it went a little bit past 140mph on the speedo so its 143mph.

And the only reason the next door new about it was cos someone put the link on the local cruise site or something similar and he saw it off that. The road I done it ons nowhere near his house, plus it was done later on in the night and there was noone about.

I unfortunatly find myself in a similiar situation to the OP - I would just like to know what happened in this particular case so I know what to expect in the future.
Not looking to go into any full details just at this stage, but knowing the outcome of this case will put my mind at ease...slightly!

I'm guessing its 130+ for Evo man... to be honest, I got off very lightly for an average of 113mph a few years back on the A90 to Aberdeen, given a 3 month ban and a 500 or 600quid fine.
I'm guessing that this is a minimum years ban and a four figure fine depending on your personal circumstances... and depending on the details of the offence you might be facing some very tough times ahead of you.

you can plead extreme hardship in court, you can only do this once in a three year period. I already had 6 points and then got caught drink driving. i had to go to a magistrates court where i pleaded extreme hardship as i had just bought a house and had to commute alot for work and the judge let me off before it went to a jury. had to pay £400 in penaltys/court costs though.

My mate got caught in a pretty similar instance he got caught doing 139 mph in a rs turbo running 12 psi the police were sitting 2-3 car lengths behind him doing the same speed luckily the camera didnt record it but he still got a 1 year ban & test resit.They ended up doing him with failing to stop as well.
