Not really sure what you mean?
But you can plug your 360 straight in using a normal ethernet cable if you want to go wireless you need the 360 add on wireless connector

the netgear ME101 is a wirless adaptor that i used to run my old xbox, that connects wireless to your router, i know you can just plug the 360 straight into the router, but as my tv/360 ae i the lounge and te router is in the hall i wanted to do it wireless and woundered this would work before i spend £50 on a 360 wireless adaptor

You may have to buy the proper adaptor, I bought a wireless network adaptor for my 360 and it found my wireless router with no problems at all even with my pc that is wired

Hope that helps

the netgear ME101 should work, but you need to set up the wireless within it, nothing need doing on the xbox other than plugging the ethernet cable in.

You need the wireless network adapter. The XB360 will not go wireless without it!

I used to use a ME101 and suffered with big lag on the xbox1 as it kept dropping packets. After this experience I was a little reluctant to to try the 360 wireless adapter and it is faultless. Performance is superb via wireless and I have wireless for the very same reason.

BTW look on ebay they are much cheaper well last time I looked, and sell the ME101.

With regards to the xbox 360 wireless adapter, what colour light should be on the the adapter? My mate give me one and it doesn't see my wireless router and has a red light on it, I guess this means it's a bit goosed?

(I mean the red light on the adapter, not the console lol)

once it's connected to your router it will turn green. I suspect you'll need to check the encryption settings and whether mac address filtering is enabled on your router. Assuming you have enter all the other wireless details into the network settings.

Some good old bad advice given on here as per usual.

As one person said you can use the ethernet wireless bridge that you have now to turn any non wireless device into a wireless one. This plugs into the back of your Xbox 360, you then log into your wireless router and have it assign an IP address via dhcp or you can manually assign it one.

If you run mac filtering security on your router you need to add the netgear ME101 mac and the mac of the xbox 360. The xbox will never know its connected via wireless. The idea of a wirelss bridge is to bridge a wired network to a wireless one.

Ian , your question about the micorosft adapter: It is red because it can detect and see your router but it cant connect to it. Add your xbox 360's mac and the mac of the wireless device to your router.

It may be slow due to the spec of the netgear adapter, it is an 802.11B device which means it has a maximum signal rate of 11mbps though in reality this can be lower usually about 4-5mbps and around 35 metres distance. The distance is line of sight and things like walls can reduce this down.

The Xbox 360 adapter is a 802.11G device which has a maximum signal rate of 54mbps and an average of around 20mbps and a similar range. Yes this will be better as it has a higher average transfer rate than your current setups maximuim transfer rate.

An ethernet cable has a maximum data rate of 100mbps which is why you may suffer some speed issues after going to wireless.
