Anyone else on Water Meter?
I had one fitted 2week ago and today i got a £108 rebate, i can still have it took out inside 12 months if i want

im on a meter too, never had anything else so cant comment on wether its better or not. what i can say is that our bill doesnt seem too excessive considering the amount of water we use.

I moved into my house in 2002 was newly built, paid £30 a month as that was the water rates at the time or something.
Rang up united utilities about my direct debit and was told i had overpaid £500 so they sent me out a nice lil cheque!
A month later, they realise they have cocked up and i now have to pay it all back.
They then realised the houses were new and installed water meters about 3 years ago, and my bills are roughly the same as what it was with the rates so its not all bad! Except the fact that im home alot more and bathing twice a day ( both me and josh) so my next bill is expected to be £1000 for the year

We pay £42 a month rates (they must work it out that as its three bedroom we'd use a lot?) may be better off on a meter, but then what about all the water we use to wash the cars with

he has a machine that can freeze the water in the pipe where it enters your house (or you could possibly turn it off in the manhole in street) once waters off you can change your plumbing however you like....most houses have the feed into the kitchen (where the meter is) so I left that piped up and took a bypass pipe pre-meter to the pipe that feeds the rest of house and capped off the end of the sink/washing machine pipe. If that makes sense....then your house gets water pre-meter from mains without clocking on the meter.I'd have bypassed the lot but Then they might get suspicious and investigate....for the time being it works quite well.

You can get piep freeze in a tin if anyones thinking of doing it. New houses you will struggle to do it though as the meter is at the outside stop tap in the pavement Usualy anyways
