Default This Plasma worth it or not?

I know someone locally selling the following plasma tv. It did have a fault on it being that there was no sound but the owner had it fixed and works perfectly (It is a year and a half old).

Its a 42" Neovia (Uses LG internal parts so basicly its a cheap LG) and has the following:
1 s-video input
2 scart sockets
2 audio in sockets
1 dtv input
1 dvi input
1 s-vga input
1 rs-232c input
1 rf input
1 speakers outlet (left & right) (proper speakers supplied)
Nicam stereo (sound not working)
built in tuner
picture in picture
16:9, 14:9, zoom, 4:3, film & video modes.
Differeent surround modes
graphic eqaulizer.

I'd love a big telly as I bet most people would plus it would help my game playing experiance with my Xbox360 as the current Tvs I have now are tiny and crap IMO (My two brothers bother have the same 32" LCD Tvs and when we play its painful seeing how theres are so much better).

Oh and the price is £300 - Worth buying?

My missus parents have the Panasonic Viera and its top dog, really impressed but when they bought it it cost something like £3k - Money I cant justify for a TV at the moment.

if i had the money spare i'd get one of them

my hitachi has the same problem wit the sound and it's getting to the stage where it's coming to the end of it's warranty and they've been out 3 or 4 times now to fix it and it still goes on the blink

i have the benifit of having the outputs going to my amp so i can listen like that, but the settings decided they want to change at random so sometimes you get the sound and sometimes you don't

unless you are getting it for a riduculosly low price then it's beter to get oen with at least a warranty on it, that way things go bad you can turn around and sort them otu

It doesn't sound like it is HD to me, no HDMI or Component Inputs??? If so it isn't worth a toss.

I didnt say it was HD but the owner thought it was as there is some confusion about screen resolution.

When the sound went it was because two wires were touching on the circuitboard or something and a resister went, I also thought that if the problem occured again I could either get it fixed or use external speakers.

Think its worth £300?

A quick google searched showed pixel resolution is 853(H)x480(V) which is not pucker 720P and hence is not an HD telly. You really want 1024 X 768 min i would say.

£300 is cheap but I would not bother!

Check these cheap LCD's with 3 years warranty:

Can be purchased from:

No, because it hasn't got the correct inputs and isn't HD, like I said. So anything you you put on it in SD will look crap on a Plasma.
