sidewayz

I didnt quiet explain that correctly i prefer rwd over 4wd i also prefer 3 doors over the escorts. BUT i love me rs's and its just 1 of those cars that i'll have to own 1 before i get to old. I do like them but aint overly keen on them if that makes sense. Same as i want to own a 3 door but want an escort before a 3 door cause i'll probably keep a 3 door for years where a i'd probably have an escort for a year

What a stupid thing to say ,," the only thing keeping the prices up is the owners attitude "
Isnt that a good think ?? if not cossies or any other RS would be worthless like any other car and then they wouldnt be wanted by people like you would they and i am shure your post would be the other way round if you were trying to sell an escoss ,,you then would be saying you want 15k or your not selling wouldnt you

The desirability. Along with the fact that most owners know what there 'worth'.

Whats your point ??? whats wrong with the sellers keeping the prices up

I wouldnt sell any of my RS "s cheap , i would want top money for any of them and if people didnt want to pay that then i would keep them and i have never had a problem selling any RS either my own or sales cars so there is always people willing to give good money for good cars ,,just not you

Good luck in your search for a cheap concourse escoss for 1ok

Seriously mate i am shure you might get lucky , but its not easy buying a bargain escoss

but at the end of the day, what else keeps the prices up? ITs the same with 3 doors....why should an old sierra that should be worth about 1k tops be worth 8, 9, 10k?

ill tell you then...

People get fed up driving up and down the country looking at supposed to be 'mint' cars to find out they are toss...so they go and give the guy with the genuine minter 15k....

Its simple really mate, they can break for Ł8-10k, making ones with a few issues Ł10-Ł12k, decent ones Ł12-Ł14k, near mint and mint ones Ł15k+.

Market seems dead. They'll drop, then increase again IMO.

I know it sounds stupid, but RS fiestas are the same, one month they are 4k for a good one, next you see some alright ones for Ł1500!

Sorry but i would rather make 4k on 1 car and do a third of the work and a third of the risk than make 2k on three cars

ask a bank manager which makes most sence

im not losing money mate-just less profit but quicker turnaround.

i would sooner make Ł500 on 3 cars in a week, than Ł1500 on one car in a month.by the way that doesnt mean i made Ł500 on each of the escos,3 door,rs2000- im just good at getting cars at decent money-a lot of people buy from me and come back again due to good value/good cars i sell.

Good cars cost good money, simple as! it's the same everywhere, just exaggerated in the RS world...if you only want to pay a certain price, then you take a chance that the car may not be as good as more expensive ones.

but the price doesn't always reflect the condition so it's pointless commenting on cars you haven't seen in the flesh, and that works both ways...some cars are cheap and potentially worth more than you pay,and some cars are way way overpriced.

forget an Escos, get a saff you can get one like mine for that money

different sellers use different methods.i like to think that the cars i have for sale are so keenly priced that they sell quickly.i have a small garage and only have space for a certain amount of cars.if i see different cars in there i know im selling them-if i see the same cars, they are not selling-and thats not right.

i bought a ldv van from an auction last week-x reg,42000 miles.paid Ł1200-sold within 4 days for Ł1800.that will do for me.if the van was still there in 2 weeks i would be worrying.just shows i have an eye for things-guy who bought it was made up-travelled from kings lynn to warrington to buy it as they were all Ł2200 upwards near him.

but this is just my way of doing things-it works for me.but i do work damn hard for it!its certainly not a 9-5 job

thats why you have all those lovely cars in your collection and ive only got an evo 6!
we all work hard in this job as we are also enthusiasts in the marque.the proof is in the pudding-your way works without a doubt mate and i like the fact i can do what i do and dont have to work for someone else-ill never make a million(like you),but as long as im not worrying about money(been there-didnt like it),im happy.

if i won the lottery tomorrow i would still do the same-just on a bigger scale.i enjoy what i do,and what it does for me.

Not just in Holland.

In Italy and German a good one is rare! And the good ones are also going up in value!

You can see it on the website's : www.mobile.de german=>(good ones are expensive)
www.autoscout.it (Italy)

But if I compare the prices with the UK, then the Escort Cosworth's are cheaper in Europe (ok, it's not very much)

Price difference between the good and "the ugly" is becoming HUGE.
Now and then an EsCos appears that costs <10000€ but you always get what you pay for of course.

3d prices are almost at the same level as the EsCos.

A few years back you could buy a 4d for 5000€-6000€, but they are getting more expensive as well it seems. Well the good ones anyway

For standard, mint, low mileage examples I can only see the prices increasing, as every year there are less and less of these type of cars available.

In my opinion a good Escort Cosworth will always command good money and I can't see that changing.

As for the ones on the Trader that haven't sold, look at who's selling them and you'll quickly see why they haven't sold!

People thought that the Focus RS would affect the Escort Cosworth market, but it hardly had any affect at all. Look at the Focus RS now, they were in demand when they first came out and were being sold for above their RRP but now you can pick up a nice one for Ł12K. In years to come I think their prices may come back again but they'll never be as strong as the Escort RS Cosworth.

I agree with James ( M7 COS )

Problem is now that these cars are starting to get rare in very good condition.
The modified ones dont seem to command money as good really
Unless they are show cars that never get used
Good example is Duncans car What a stunning example & due to it being a well known Escort on the show scene, this type of Cosworth will always command a great price.
At the end of the day its the RS marque that defines these cars & its Cosworth heritage.
This can only be good for the cars & their owners

I understand and agree that a concorse immaculte 10k miler will always be worth top money. The post was intended at the useable cars ie 60k 70k milers with a few stone chips but still what i would call good examples. I still think that a good usable 60k miler can be had for 12k at the moment 13k definatly

Because i'm waiting on that motorsport 1 i will know by the weekend if its 100% sold. Plus i only started looking lat week and wasnt really looking anyway it was just that really cheap motorsport that sort of got that hole burning in my pocket.

I must admit i am 1 of those type that want 1 on me doorstep thats why i was willing to go to portsmouth for a 2k crx . I would travel the lenght of the contry for the right car

Interesting read especially for me who is just about to go full hog on advertising my Escort Cossie as it just doesnt get used so i will be putting mine up for sale at 15,995 ono for a LT pacifica blue model with more or less up rated everything, (48k from new on the clock) but still retaining the originality of the car, lets see how i do

Note, this is not a for sale post
