Default Escort cossie prices your opinion

Right i'm in the market for an escort cossie possibly, and i have obviously been looking at various cars on rsoc autotrader passionford etc all the uual places really. I hav noticed that 14k seems to be about the going rate for a 60-70k good 1. However these cars have been for ale for months and months and simply aint selling giving me the impressin that the general public just wont pay these prices anymore. So the owners are going to have to drop the prices or keep the car imo. Plus fordsportjay had a nice 55k mallard for sale at 10,500 which sold obviusly because people are willing to pay tha money for 1 but not 14k. So my question is do you lot think the prices of escort will come down over the next few years cause i certanly do

anyone like to put any info into why they voted the way they did, i think the rise of the rice mobiles will drive the prices down

there sataying where they have been for a while cos the only way people are going to get back what they have spent on them is to break them or lose a fortune same goes for the rest of the old fords....well thats what i think anyway

Depends what the spec is tbh, i looked at 2 - nearly bought the first one 12.5K standard apart from a chip - but for an extra 1.5K bought the one in the siggy which came with exhaust, IC, etc etc.

I wanted an esc which was looked after, so had no problem making the decision!

You get what you pay for sometimes (the 12.5k one was quite tatty)

But if they cant sell the for what there asking they aint going to get anything back for hem and be lumbered with an unsellable car aint they????????????

The ppoint i'm trying to make is that they obviously int selling for the asking prices so the owners are going to have to bite the bulle and take a loss or keep the car imo. the fact that you can get a newish scooby or evo for the same money is also going to effect the prices as its a no brainer for a non enthusiast to spend the same money on a car thats 10 years older

More than likely it is mate, but at the time for me looking (which was only last year) there wasnt any around for that price - they were all sheds!

If its that good, he'll have his arm pulled off mate - get in there!

aye but jay said he was selling at that price to shift it on! It was xmas time and he just wanted a quick turn around! IIRC he said it'd be 2k more in summer!

they may not be selling due to the wrong time of year

just wait till the summer when the prices go up and they will have no problem selling

These sort of cars (old crap that people get emotional about) always tend to be priced above their "true" value and people tend to have an "if i dont get that for it then i will keep it" attitude with them.

So in answer to the question will the value come down from 14k to 11k, i would say it already has, in answer to if people will actually start advertising them at that, its going to depend on individual circumstances I suspect.

Ah he did but if he thought he could have got an extra 2k would he had let it go for 2k cheap. Plus that still only makes the car 12.5k which is still 2k cheaper than the average 1 thats for sale for 3 years lol

What i'm getting at is i think its time the owners realised in ade to sell there car they need to drop the price

so few of them about now they will always demand good money. not many owned by non enthusiasts and not many used as daily drives.
so they will stay as a cult car and hold there value

Dunno about that Chip - dont think people are having any problems selling a well looked after escy for below 14k!

I dont really have a budget, i aint expecting to go round someones house and knock 5k of the price BUT i am of the same opinion as chip they simply aint worth what people are asking thats why thet aint selling. Its like me asking 10k for my integra cause i believe its worth it and i love the car point blank it wont sell obviously isnt worth 10k is it.

I went and had a look at a motorsport for 8k and if the lad who put a deposit on t dont sell his car by the weekend its mine. Its just had 7k spent on it but the owner wn it gone so dropped the price from 11k to 8k and it sold because its only worth 8k

I see whyn your annoyed alps but i cant see prices going down much so spend more on a good un and get money back in year or 2 if you want to sell

i have a HORRIBLE craving for one too

Only benefit over getting an evo would be lack of depreciation! But then its a fucking cossie at end of the day

Sentimental value is the key here IMO, there will always be the odd cheap 10.5k escos, if proved to be straight it will be gone within a week , but the amount people spend on there cossies if they arent in the financial plight to HAVE TO sell the car they arent gonna let it go for nowt, hence the " if i dont get 14k ill just keep it" remarks in for sale ads, Id personally love an Escort Cos but I just dont think theyre worth what they command, my view anyway

when buying a escos i wanted a blue one so to be honest i wasnt looking at other colours. so if there was a (no offence to anyone) red, mallard one 2/3k cheaper than the one i bought,i still wouldnt have bought them.

edited to say and it had to be a large turbo aswell.

See i aint bothered about colour tbh as i like them all although large turbo s a must. I dont really like escorts but though i'd try 1 and then get 3 door so i'd had the full range

if it's a no brainer why don't you buy a scoobie or evo, problem solved, escorts will always comand a higher price than jap car's as they are more of an enthusiast car, same as s1 rst, 3dr,rs500.& most will not be used this time of year,if you want one get it now, once the better weather comes the prices will not come down, as for cheaper car's yes there are bargains out there but usually there is some kind of bad history or problem with them,as said above you get what you pay for

interesting answer, are you or anyone else who say there not worth the money deal in these cars ?? as iam going to tell you all something now "good examples sell and hold good money"
why have I got people waiting for a good Escort Cossie if there not worth the money ???
in fact I even gave a custumer of mine from N Ireland to a memebr off this site again form N Ireland to help sell his car
These cars along with the 3 door and RS500 will always hold there value,Yes there is cheap one yes there is the odd bargain priced one,But you have to look at a few examples before you find a really good one and that will be more than 11K
The one i have just sold I didnt have it 24hrs so whats that telling you

I dont know I havnt seen them but I would say they were over priced for the condition or mileage or maybe they had far too many faults

whay makes you think there not selling ?? is it just because you have seen the high mileage fault riddled examples in the auto trader ??
so you would pay 10K for a nice 3 door but not 14K for a nice escort Iam now very confused
