Buying cars - Impulse purchases
Right. Just had a conversation with Davie (vrooom-pttshshshshs or whatever)
Basically, whenever I go out with the intention of buying a particular car, be it an XR2, RST whatever... I always, and I mean always end up with a fucking shed
And thinking about it, my best buys have been impulse buys. Thinks I had no intention of buying at 12pm, but owned by 1pm.......
A few examples.
This RST.... I was out with a few of my pals one day when I saw it at the side of the road for sale. So I phoned the number on it, and got chatting with the lad selling it. Basically he'd bought it, MOT'd it for a year, bought a new turbo for it, before it could be set up properly, he phoned the insurance and they told him to fuck off.
So, after a bit of haggling, it was mine for 900 quid.
Now, I set it up, spent about 60 quid on parts like cambelt and dizzy cap etc and it made 183bhp.
A few months down the line I sold it for 2600 And now I wish I hadn't
Moving on!
I bought my last XR2 in kind of a similar situation. Saw it in a forecourt. Haggled alot and got it for hardly any money. Was great until rust finally got the best of it.....
My Pug! I got this for 400 quid and I didn't even want it. I was going to sell it as soon as I got it home. Never missed a beat, until I destroyed the box at a track day. I even sold it for what I paid for it....
Now it seems to me, every time I go looking for a car, I end up with a shed.... Why is this

That 205 looks good for £400
I brought this a few months ago:
I know the guuy that was selling it, he didn't look after it and the exhaurst had fallen off and the interior looked like it had been used as a bin, but with a bit of work its been a fairly decent runaround and is good fun in the wet.

I'd still end up with a shed.
Only way to garuntee I get a decent car is to not go looking for one and just buy what comes my way
