Default Problems with new Cossie......HELP

...changed the lifters to day and found on the front 2 allen key bolts that hold the first cap on with the oil seal (camshafts) came out with helicoils on them...then noted some cam caps just spun and couldnt put up to ft/lb....they just span..so wound the studs out to find helicoils coming out too ...OBVIOUSLY in the past the nuts and allen key bolts where not torqued down and just put on over tight causing the need for the helicoils ...the 13mm nuts are 20ft/lb and the front bolts are 10ft/lb MAX...hardly anything...

So what can i do i NEED to get it running for Monday..is rehelicoiling ok..and where can i get a kit from???...need about 4 studs to go back in and 1 allen bolt.

ANYONE HELP??????

Most proper hardware stores should do them.

Some of the better autofactors may do them to.

Be careful Phil when you do put it back together - shouldn't those torque figures be Nm, not lbft - ie 10 and 20lbft are too tight ? (Ihaven't got my manual in front of me so would be worth checking)

I doubt B+Q will do them

your problem is is that the helicoil kits are about Ł20-25 each - 2 sizes are required, so it's gonna be expensive unless you can find someone with the appropriate sizes that you can borrow the kits off (like me but I'm in Nottingham)

Asked my Dad if we have any of these at his business, as it's mechanical & vehicle based, plus we're in Kent.

Unfortunately don't have any, sorry.

How about a garage? They may have some in stock if this happens to them?

Its very unlikely halfrauds do them mate.... - unless they've changed a lot since i left a year and a half ago.... - may be worth giving the biggest store near you a call though...

If they broke up, it's very unlikely that what came out was a helicoil as it would have been steel and quite hard.

It's more than likely the remains of the aluminium thread from the head.

I doubt you will find somewhere tomorrow to be honest Phil. Try Machine Mart and the usual Halfords and other accessory shops. You may get lucky.
