Default Audi mystery

Hi all, i was driving home last night and some audi pulls up beside me, it was a silver estate and on the bacl left it had a design with three stripes, similar to the M3, and on the back right it had loads of letter i couldnt make out

i caught it up to have a closer look and then a bit of a dual occured, he had me in 3rd but 4th and 5th i just had the edge, it was still keeping up though

my car is 278 bhp rwd cossie, any ideas on what it could be???

depends how old it was

unlikey to be an S4, unless tuned. an RS4 would probably have killed you if yours is only a stage 1.

if it looked like an audi 80, it was probably an RS2

did it have flared wheel arches, notice the wing mirrors by any chance?

if the badge was silver and red, then an S2,if it was silver, red and blue then an RS2,although i'd expect him to whoop a stage 1 cossie if it was an RS2

RS4's are insane. One of the guys from my cycling club in the UK works for Audi and has taken a few for a spin and rates them very highly.

Back in the days when I had 500bhp the only car that ever gave me a whooping was one of these Audi Estates, met it twice & it kicked my butt both times. I held the RWD Topspeed record at the time & to have an Estate car slowly pull away was not good for the ego. Got my son to check it out, rather glad when he came back & told me it had a Dyno proven 576bhp. Wish I could meet him now .

standard s4's arent much, 260bhp and power sapping quattro

my moneys on the RS2, looks a litttle different to an audi estate, him with 4 up and you with 2wd, and no passengers, would have been a pretty close call i reckon.

there are some seriously cool audi estates around, and 700bhp, isnt un heard of, not just pub speak

I know someone with an S4 which is tuned and is quick. I just think an RS4 which is twin turbo'd will kill even a stg 3 cossie IMO

the b5 s4 = 2.7 v6 twinturbo 260bhp, most are remapped 310bhp ish, 98 - 01 starting at about 6k for a high mileage one.

the b5 rs4 = a tuned version of the above 380bhp, 450bhp ish with a remap 00 - 01 ish starting at £18k again for 100k mile one

im after a 99/00 s4 avant, looks nothing special, but 300bhp and 4x4 should surprise upset a few

True that.

Stge 3 cossie would get blown by the 450 bhp monster.

A mate of mine has had his W reg S6 Avant since new and just can't find anything (apart from motorbikes) more fun to drive and it is a truly awesome piece of kit.

Don't know all the spec, but it has a 4.2 with 4x4 and it drives wonderfully - especially with the tiptronic gearbox on it.
