Default ##IGNITION FEED RELAY--NEED HELP##

Right then

When i turn the key to the 3rd position so that the ignition lights come on and fuel pump primes the relay clicks once, then about 5 seconds later clicks again.

I then fire the car up and it is running fine.

NOW

After the car has been running for a while i turn it off. Now when i turn the keys to the 3rd position the relay clicks very fast for about 4 secs then stops. The car then fires up when i turn the key as normal

BUT

Once i am driving, now and again it will cut out totally and the whole car will die, then come back on again with said really clicking

NOW THIS IS THE WEIRD BIT

If i take the relay out, the car still runs Is that right

Please help as i have a mag shoot tomorrow and National Day on Sunday

errrr no !

if it is the ign relay ???

unless its been bypassed - in the past ,

the ign relay should then feed the fuel pump relay iirc ( dont make me get the diagram out !! )

the ign relay is triggered by the ckps via the ecu , what colour wire have you got on your ckps ??

for emergency purposes if you are really stuck i can tell you how to remove the relays ( not hard just dont want to tell everyone as there will be loads a cossies with no saftey devices on them !! )

Well i have been out there fucking around with it for a few hours now and have come to this conclusion

If i move the wires going into the Alarm box, it cuts the car out. If i carry on moving them the car comes back alive

But that still does explain why it runs without the relay in?????

What is the ckps

are you sure it aint the ecu power relay clicking (next to fuel pump relay on right hand side of ecu inside dash), alarms usually cut the power to ecu like

just a thought

BUT it clearly wouldnt run without that in so maybe a crap thought

Matt

It is not any of the ECU relays or the Fuel pump relay, this little bitch is behind the glove box, tucked up

You are correct so put the diagram away!

And I agree, sounds like a broken wire on the alarm curcuit.

If you have a GRP A coil wired up sometimes the car will run with no ignition relay.

Seen this before, kinda did my head in too.
