Hi guys

Hopefully going to view a cheap cosworth this weekend, problem is it's seems too cheap, as long as it's an original shell and the engine and box aren't shot then I'll have it, but how do I check for an orginal shell and is there any signs I should look out on the running gear?

Why do you want an original shell? (thats a daft question i know)
but as long as it checks out and is legal i would be much more concerned about the rust rather than the originality.

Yeah I know what you mean mate, obviously I want a solidshell, but I also want an original cosworth, especially if I ever come to sell it in the future

your wasting your time mate I wasent out there to buy but a mate was we seen the car first impression looked good but close up mate how can i describe fucked aint the word put it this way the chasis way rotten to fuck the engine had a misfire oil pissing all over oh yeah the door moldings were painted gloss black lol the interior lol wouldent even sit in there I recon thats had a dodgy m.o.t a breaker really to get a good saph your looking at about 5k thats for a fair one and if you notice theres no proper pics of the car apart from shady ones I offerd him alot less then that i tell you as a breaker hope this helps.

totally agree with this guy mate cosworths are money pits but on a serious not deans car is a minter mate well looks anyway lol,

If so, I actually thought it was one of the spam adds as its got so many add listings.lol

If your careful and you know what ur about you could bag a bargain...
but its more likely gona cost that again to get it to a good useable reliable condition.

May of just saved up a 300 mile round trip. Owner told me solid shell and good engine. He did mention misfire or flatspot.

Yeah one on gumtree yes, spoke to the bloke, said he traded it on an m5. Said previous owner had it 5 years off road, and he's moted it.

yep thats what his told me his a trader tbh I recon his got stuck with this one though that car was from bradford was advertised for 5k couldent sell it tbh when went to view it I felt disgusted the battery tray was rotten the bulk head had surface rust my mate touched the back bumper it was litrally held on not bolted on the skirts were hanging basically the front bumper was hanging on also then i looked in all the usual places as iv had mine 10 years now all gone floor was rotten If your after a project then its okay if resheling then if your expecting a useable saph then its far from it lol we offered him alot less as a breaker then we thought even thats way too much lol.

Viewed this its scrap! i seriously was pissed off. the shell is scrap it has rust every where. the sills are about to fall off! and rear bumper has runt under it so hardly hanging on! the shell is rotten and the engine has oil leaks,sounds screwed and needs a rebuild. the car is properly tyred and seriously it wont make it back home so if you buy it take a trailer! the guy took it in as px and he knows its scrap as i told him after went to see it because i thought it was a ok ish car couldnt believe my eyes when i got there! Even if it was a breaker the shell is scrap,engine needs a rebuild and the interior isnt mint,has imoboiliser problems and the car is really tyred there was oil pissing out , it doesnt boost either, and splutters when you drive it. i sat on the seat and was worried it might fall through because the sills and floor was rotten! front bumper been hit to i dont know where to start lol dont waste your time!
