Anyone else had this problem? I am refitting a genuine 3 door rear bumper and put new mushroom head fixings in first. Now when it is on the car they stick out either side by nearly a cm??? You can see it here as they should blend in nicely with the arch.

OK - just had to take it all off now really confused!!
The body side receiver clips are correctly in place and the ones in the bumper look right as well. I thought that the mushroom heads might be riding over the top instead of slipping into the receives... but as you can see from the shot take above the whole just looks too deep!!!

Cheers Mike, on the beer now as that bumper is doing my head in!! I have concluded that the fixings I binned must have been different in some way - wish I'd kept the darn things but they are in the local dump now!!

Problem solved and understood now. Take a look at my picture and you'll see that where the mushroom 'peg' goes into the bumper the shoulder is about 5 mm deep after it widens. On Paul's it widens but no shoulder. So... cut 5 mm off and its fine. We also filed the shoulder off which I now realised wasn't needed, and drilled a hole to take the metal centre pin rather than sawing it all off. See below if that sound confusing, but basically, there are two types of mushroom peg lads!!!
