Default How many of you guys run 400+ bhp on std. MT75 box?

And how long time have you been doing that without issues?

Personally i think the durability and lifespan of the gearbox, has a lot to do with the way the car is driven, but i would like to hear your experience about this.
Maybe i'm totally wrong? I have not covered enough miles in my own car to have any experience with this, but i am aware of the problems i could or should i say will get? when running 400-450 ish on a standard box. So honestly i'm thinking about running with a lower boostpressure until i can afford a decent gearkit upgrade.

A lot to do with how it's mapped and driven imo, mine will be over 400 once mapped although I have quaiffe front and rear diffs fitted.

I'm less than 400 and mine is slightly dodgy into 3rd. I'd say it depends on how many miles the box has on it and how it's been used more than the power level to a certain extent.

I'm running around 380 bhp / 450 Nm torque and no problems or strange noises. Don't know how the previous owner driven the car, but I'm always very carefull while shifting and NO launching starts and everything is still working.
Beside this I'm also thinking about a stronger gearkit for my future plans.

I had a re-built standard box. Fitted a gt30 turbo look it down the road and 2nd gear went BANG. Bit the bullet it the end and got a Fix-it gear kit built up by Bara. Not cheap but it's stayed in one piece so far.Just the diffs to do now

over 400 for 4 years and always had std trans....the box went bang not long after but the car had been running a t34.....this box has been in for over 3 years and (fingers x'd) is fine ...........ps it's the ft/lbs that kill the box but mine's doing ok at 390ft/lbs

420 BHP/400 FT/LBS of torque in my car, standard box and diffs in my car with a front diff strengthening plate fitted, just over a year since I done my power upgrade, I had a t34.48 previously which made 326BHP/312 FT/LBS of torque and I blew two boxes

a lot of it is down to how the car is driven, if you drive any cosworth like an animal sooner rather than later something will break, standing launches at the pod will kill the diffs and large boost spikes will kill the gearbox particulaly 3rd gear.

as already said its not bhp that kills 4x4 boxes its the ft/lbs of torque that does it, any thing more than 300 ft/lbs of torque and you're living on borrowed time.

Big tooth gear kit is what is needed if you have a big power 4x4 to drive the car to its full potential, one will be going in my car as soon as the funds are available to me until then its applying a bit of TLC whenever I drive the car

That sounds very similar to what i expectet. I will order a semi cut big tooth gearkit too within a year or two, and until then i will just be carefull like you are. But my engine is not assembled yet and it it all brand new. So in the springtime and summer this year i have a break-in period ahead of me where i will only drive
