Would this fit into a 7.5" Cossie Diff?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FORD-...Q5fAccessories
Do you think it would be a straight fit into a cosworth casing and more importantly would it be any good for handling big power?
Cheers Rich

I have mounted one of this mc2 (Eaton) in my 7,5" on my 3dr cossie and have used it now two summers. And works just perfect on the road and at the track. It is fitted almost the same way as the the gripper or quaife. It is a 450+hp and 550nm car, works perfect !!!!!!!!

There is some random carving to do on the already not very thick diff casing.
There is very little preload and only 2 paltry planet gears inside--weak.
There is a spacer for which there is unanswered questions if the ring gear spacer is turned on a lathe or ground for flatness.
And I rejected the idea years ago--1989---for the loose fit on the stubby shafts to the side gears. Unacceptably loose in my opinion..
(Now I've only been a machinist and a mechanic on race and rally machinery for 35+ years and set up between 700-1000 diffs maybe--but what the fawk do I know)
A very few guys have used these and I've heard reports of several failures, but details are, as always sketchy.
As it is a 2 pinion diff it is no better than the normal Cossie 2wd VC.
Seems a lot cheaper to send a diff off to Barra for pumping up.
But if you want much stronger and ultimately cheaper, then theres much better solutions.

That one. 8" Toyota from many 87 onwards Supras and other things.
First; 8" bigger without being insane. Known good in 600-700bhp driftie cars and in desert and rock crawlers where gearing is insane and they hit things hard.
second, narrower so those nice simple adaptors is all you need for hooking up either 4x4 or 2wd CVs with no bother.
third; BIG stub shafts
Forth: 4 pinion diff---inarguably much stronger design than any 2 pinion thing
Fifth; BIG clutch plates and plenty of them
Sixth: reasonably cheap to buy. anywhere from (if you're lucky!!) $30 to $250
Seventh: big choice of gear ratios if the normal 3.73, or 3.9., or 4,3 don't tickle you pink.
3.53 to 5.7 range in price from $150 to $230.
eight: did I mention STRONG? Every bit as stropng as the Ford 8.8 with none of the install problems or $1200 output flange/custom halfshaft issues.
And finally, a simple ready to install kit to install the diff and then options on the prop shaft end cuase many have solutions for prop so its a separate thing--obviously.
Saw one of these on Flea-bay.co.uk get zero bids at 99p...
Note, of course its a bit heavier, its 16lbs heavier than a Ford 7.5" OPEN Xratty diff.
But they're strong. Never seen or heard of one chipping or breaking teeth regardless.
