Fuel pump wirring route
Hi All,
I am going to rewire the Fuel pump and Fans - however, can someone tell me which side of the car does the wirring for the fuel pump go - it's a K plate 4x4. I currently have 11.6 Volts at the pump so might not be too bad under load but may as well do it now. Also, when re-wirring this, do you splice into the existing wirring in the boot with the relay, but do you continue to run the existing wires down to the pump??
Thanks.

most people run a new +, - direct from the battery to a relay in the boot area, pull up the existing wiring through to the boot and use that to switch the new relay then new feeds down back through the boot again, im sure someone will post up a diagram for you.
You can buy the new looms on e bay for around 50 quid

The pump wire runs along the n/s side sill, the wire the other side(o/s) that is the same colour!!, is the brake light wire.
Diy is easy just you need to chop about the last 6" or so off the old wires to re use the connectors, don't forget to run a new earth from the BATTERY also as this going to have some resistance in it as well, don't forget the fuse at the battery on the live either, I fitted my relay behind the seat upright on the n/s as ther eis already a nice 8mm hole there so used that to hold a relay holder, relay plugs in there, so can take out when at shows etc for a bit of extra security.

Id say always run as short an earth as possible. Never run it back to the battery as you will always loose voltage over a long cable run. You're better off getting a good earth on the body near the pump. Maybe weld a small bolt in the wheel well as an earth post.

there's a bung on the bulk head to the right of the battery (if your looking into the engine bay) go through that and drop it down under the lower dash.
run it under the kick panel and then under the sill trims then up the side of the rear seat and into boot
job done

I ran an earth and power like tabs said from batt to pump, think i only paid about £10 for the cables as i got some cheap, the fuse holder wasnt much either and just used a spare relay i had kicking about!!!
