Default ABS removal? Power steering removal

I plan to fit 3 door hubs to my Sapphire soon and I wondered about removing the ABS at the same time. If I don't connect the sensors will my braking be affected? Is there any easy way to disconnect and dump the ABS? I don't fancy re-doing my brake lines.

Also I am going to take the power steering pump, reservoir and belt off my car, remove all the hydraulic pipe work and use foam to block up the holes in the rack so that dirt can't get in. Does anybody see any reason why this will be a problem?

Thanks,

Charlie

No replies. No big deal. Tonight I'm going to remove all the power steering gubbins and the belt, and will do the next event at Brands Hatch with non-power steering. I'm sure it'll be alright. I'll report back and see how I got on. I think it'll feel fine on the circuit and I don't have to do much parking

Maybe I can get the car down to under 1,100kg.

I'm guessing that the abs being disconnected from the sensors is all you effectively need to do??

I think you are pioneering the no power steering side of things - will be interested to hear how you get on

I think removal of the power steering makes sense for three reasons - 1. removal of weight; 2. simplicity. My power steering at the moment kicks and judders at slow speeds and needs attention so I may as well take it off. 3. More power. I don't know how much the power steering pump uses - probably only a few HP but it all adds up.

Because it is only a track car I don't think the heavy steering at slow speeds will be a problem.

A couple of people have told me that a power rack should never be used as a non-power rack but nobody has given me a good reason why.

ABS I don't know about. I would prefer to remove it all but I don't know what's involved yet.
