I think removal of the power steering makes sense for three reasons - 1. removal of weight; 2. simplicity. My power steering at the moment kicks and judders at slow speeds and needs attention so I may as well take it off. 3. More power. I don't know how much the power steering pump uses - probably only a few HP but it all adds up.

Because it is only a track car I don't think the heavy steering at slow speeds will be a problem.

A couple of people have told me that a power rack should never be used as a non-power rack but nobody has given me a good reason why.

ABS I don't know about. I would prefer to remove it all but I don't know what's involved yet.
