Default Fitting car seat in rear of ST3

Hi,

Gota get my daughter her next car seat which will fit in the back, with the ST3 do i need to get the iso fix bar fitted from fords to enable the seats to fit?

Or is it ok to strap the seat in as normal? Women at mother care wasnt very helpful so thought i would ask on here what others have done?

Cheers Jamie

Not come Ifixo's as standard mate?

Check the seat instructions for fitment. Don't use both.

If not then get the bar thingy ... Defo the way forward

Have you already bought the seat? Guess not.

If you buy a proper seat like a Britax it will be Ifixo ready.

If you wanna go seat belt secure then make sure the seat is compatible.

If you buy the bar, have Ford fit it mate. Don't cheap out unless it's a 10 second job.

Belted seats should be fine, why you need to anchor them to the seats is beyond me

Unless some folk simply don't understand how to belt up their kids safely I suppose

Cheap out on the child's safety and buy some decent brake pads instead.

My kids have been fine in the belted child seats we bought for them years and years ago, and have never had any issues with them
Fit and forget
If you are talking about the little rear facing seats then I can see the argument as they are a lot more fiddly to fit in and out of the car and some cars we tried to fit our original car seat into didn't have enough seat belt length to actually go around

Remember though that the ST3 has a diffrent bench seat and not all car seats will fit due to this.

We had difficulty finding one to fit when we got the wifes ST3

I've got a car seat base permanently strapped into my 5 dr st2. Car seat just clips in and out of that.

I've got a ST2 and have a little girl too and her seat is in with isofix and just had it fitted to the other side as I've got a another little girl on the way. It's the best way to have the car seat. I got both mine done at ford, it's so much better then useing the belt. 😃

Only problem using a car seat in the st3 Is the seat belts are a bit short in the back and no option to turn the passenger air bag off if you want the seat in the front.

Have my niece in the back of mine a fair bit, luckily the seat base is narrow so fits in the rear seat perfect. But the belt is very short and need to tilt the baby seat a little to fit the belt correctly just for an extra inch.

You can get a key switch to turn the passenger airbag off as an option Carlos.

You can have this retro fitted, but for the fiesta st, it's like 100-140 quid! Fucking insane!

yes you can have it done as a retro fit, the key switch goes in a blank next to the esp and heated seat switches or in the glove box next to the aux socket. Have a look on the stoc, remember seeing a thread on there. Will copy it over for other members to see when I'm on the computer.

Here's the switch

And the thread

THIS IS A DEALER FIT OPTION PLEASE DO NOT CONNECT ANY SWITCHES YOUR SELF ONLY FIND THE WIREING

GUIDE:
HOW TO FIT FACTORY AIR BAG DEACTIVATION
[

b]PRICE TO FIT:[/b] Ł38 Parts, Ł20 Ford for Programming

PART FINNIS NO REQUIRED:

1381035 key switch
1035250 sticker Decal
1353959 Blank Switch Light

DO NOT CONNECT ANY SWITCHES JUST PULL THE WIRE OUT THOUGH THE HOLES ELSE THE AIRBAGS WILL GO OFF!!!

step 1:

remove the glove box

Step 2:
Find the wire taped up at the back

Step 3

Remove the Knock out Pannel next to the MP3 Socket

Step 4
then Pull the wire though

Step 5
Refit the glove Box leaving the wire out (i taped mine out wire masking tape so it would not go back in)

Step 6

Find 2 Small Flat Headed Screw Drivers and cover them with masking tape so they will not scratch any pannels

Step 7
insert then screw drivers into the pannel gaps near the blank (as shown in red) and then push the screw drivers outwards to pop the blank out.(the pic shows the light blank fitted)

Step 8:

On the back of the blank theres a wire pluged into it. this is just to store the wire so you can remove it from the black and again masking tape it down so its ready to have the new blank (as shown in the pic above) fitted.

Step 9:
Open the Passanger Door And remove the Sticker that shows and states NO CHILD SEAT IN FRONT and replace with new Decal.

Step 10:
Take all parts to ford and ask them to program with the WDS laptop (it should be Ł20 as its a small 10 min program) And Fit the Switches

ONCE AGAIN DO NOT CONNECT ANY SWITCHES GET FORD TO PROGRAM AND FIT THEM TO YOUR CAR!
