Wondered if anyone had any ideas or simple fixes? My mk1 3 door focus passenger door will only unlock when I use the key. It won't unlock using remote key fob or when I try and open it from inside.

Once I have opened the door with the key it will open normally and lock normally, but once locked won't open again without using the key.

 

does your remote work ?

 

The remote works on the drivers door (locking and unlocking it) but will only lock the passenger door but won't unlock it.

 

Have you tried pressing the remote twice to unlock the passenger door, some cars are set up to open passenger door on 2nd press.

Might not be the case but worth a check.

Sounds like it's double locked if you can't open from inside either.

 

yes try the 2 press unlock. mine locks the car with 1 press and double locks with 2 presses, and 1 press drivers unlock , 2 presses unlocks whole car

 

Yeah, tried that but didn't work. Very annoying!

 

OK, very strange but went out and tried it again with two very fast taps and it seemed to unlock it. Not convinced that has resolved it long term as I tried it before and it didn't work. Weird.

 

See how it goes, it's how it's been set up to open like that.
