my erst screams when accelerating hard, is this the turbo? is it normal? theres no smoke from it tho, cheers peeps!

i get the same mate and i have asked a number of people about this ive had my rst for 2 years and its been doing it ever since no smoke the only thing i can think of is that would cause the scream is my tiny 3inch magnex exhaust tailpipe but cant say for sure

yeh ive got a 3" mongoose system, i surpose if it is the turbo it would be the bearings that were making the noise and if the bearings were gone the shaft would have lotsa play in it, its wierd!

Have heard it mentioned in the past that it may be due to th eturbo being out of balance. How true this is is anybodies guess

ive checked mine and have very very little play and it boosts up to 15psi fine

play and balance aren't the same thing. It's like your wheels being out of balance. As it spins up the balance causes a vibration

Sorry mate i was supposed to post b4 you but it turned out you posted just before me anyway i see what your saying but will wait for turbo to blow and then better of goin for a stage 2 or 3 turbo

I agree, ive heard turbo's in the past that make a whistling kind of noise when the turbo is out of balance, I suppose it depends on your definition of "screaming".

I would be a bit cautious about just running it until the turbo lets go, because ive heard of people doing this in the past only to find that there turbo has shattered into pieces and thrown it's guts back into your engine - not good, and probablly would require a rebuild.
