a screamer pipe is what it says LOUD!
An external wg IS the best way to control the boost but the internal gated gt30 er really good tho, so i think it´s a question off taste.
You can always leed the screamer pipe in to the dp again if it´s to loud for you

External but with the pipe coming back into the exhaust rather than to atmoshpere gives the best of both worlds.

Medium pitch, lol

But FUCKING loud.

Seriously mate, if loud bothers you then you do NOT want a screamer pipe, it sounds like a jet engine, lol

I have a movie of mine somewhere, and i can tell you it´s so loud that i close the windows otherwise my ears will go off...
It sounds ÜBER cool, but WAY to much noise.
Try to think that you take the downpipe off the turbo on full speed and then 10% more

only loud when you hit full boost, an unsilenced internal gate system on a cossie sounds almost the same once you hit full boost.

if noise regs arnt an issue, go for it, esp as you can make the normal exhaust quiet so you dont have to drive a stupid loud car around all the time.

watching vids etc of screamers wont really help you in most instances either, as often sounds very different depending on the car, some nicer than others, some totally change in tone, some just get loud, some sound like jets/whistles, all sorts.

so maybe worth going for a quiet exhaust for plottering around ain and having it externally gated for the sound of when it hits full boost

Yes, providing you never hit boost anywhere with noise regs

Not very, any decent fabricator could make a pipe go back into the exhaust.

if youre thinking bout using a screamer pipe in oz, think again:

1) EPA noise reg = noise pollution = fine (not sure how much) + your car has to go over the pits (defect)
2) EPA pollution reg - exhaust gases that have not passed though the cat coniverter = $10,000 fine... (defect)
3) by running a screamer pipe you are venting exhaust gases prior to the rear axle (defect)

if that doesnt scare you off then go for it...

My thoughts are screamer pipes on road cars are for ricers

like i already said, different screamers sound different on different engines/turbos/boost, so a bit pointless, or he will go away thinking it will sound mint like on an RB, and it wont.

its not bullshit.. you were either warned or let off.. if the issuing officer wanted to slap you with a defect notice then the resposiblity would be on you to prove it was legal.

I have been out on AJC's Escort, thats on a GT30 with external gate and it sounds AWESOME!

You can hear it from miles away, well not miles, but u get what i mean.

If your not going to use it on the track and not worries about noise regs etc, i'd deffo go for an external gate, they do sound the tits!

is it just me getting old, or is a road car with an unsilenced screamer pipe not just totally anti-social? why do you think other people want to hear your noise?

fair enough on a race track, as noise is to be expected. although perversely most race tracks now have more strict noise regulations than the road
