Default Screamer Pipe

I think a screamer pipe is a short pipe coming off external wastegate into atmosphere. (like a little secondary exhaust)

Im thinking of getting a small pipe welded down the side of my existing exhaust (just tacked) and connected to the ext wastegate outlet.

Only about two foot long and going down underneath the car

is this ok also is it legal.

How loud will it be? Any videos would be excellent.

Or am i completely wrong and thats not what a screamer pipe is? Should i just get it going back into the exhaust???

Thanks again guys.

Never know i might learn something soon.... (im trying)

a mates old 3 door, im sure he wont mind me popping this little video up.

its that loud when it came on full boost, when going to le mans a couple of years ago we were heading thru a long tunnel, i thought my car was loud but the 3door was about 300 metres behind me and even from that distance it drowned out the sound of my own car i was driving in!!

GT30 at 2bar (ish) with external wastegate running a short 2" screamer pipe!!

No issue with legality as not an MOT man or pig on earth will know what it is, esp as its quiet until full boost.

I would defo silence it or have it routed back into the exhaust.

the noise will soon become annoying IMO

Excellent mate.

Sounds like an old rally car, Now all i need is the anti lag. Dont think i can with my turbo though..

Dont think martin goes a bundle on anti lag as when i suggested it when i bought the turbo (low boost like 4 psi or sumin) He sounded well against it.

So i think its a no go.

Thansk for the vids guys. Deffo made up my mind on screamer pipe now.

remember its only something you will hear at full boost tho mind, and its a cossie, so i doubt it will stay in one piece at full hammer all the way to a show

will NOT get past any noise meters on track days tho, so if you are tracking it, silence it.

silenced "screamers" are nigh on totally silent if done right, so track friendly.

I can see you point and its your car mate

the noise is just more of hassle than anything else, as you wont get on tracks and will struggle at Brunters.

damn. So no track days if i have screamer pipe. I wonder if there is a way of making something that will allow interchange for track and for road etc...

And if i cant get on brunters then its a bit pointless.

Oh well bang goes that idea then...

Is anti lag not allowed on track either then?

You could get a removable silencer for the screamer...

Excellent A removeable silencer.

Thats gotta be the way to go. I wonder if martin can sort that out. What is the silencer bit then surely not a box as there would not be enough space next to exhaust.

Any pics of anyone with this sort of setup???

Christian has something like this on his S2.

Pretty sure Martin can sort out anything.
