Fuel pump is getting 12V & is earthed - yet wont work
Again, putting the Escort engine into a Ka. Escort loom is on the engine, ignition switch, battery and fuel pump etc.
The fuel pump is getting 12 volts on ignition possition 2 yet it wont work, despite being earthed.
(ive tried loads of earthing points over the Ka, some of which i know to be excelent, and ive put the pump (escos item) directly onto the battery and it works fine. The fuel relay is brand new from fords, yet i have tried an older onejust incase)
Is there something im forgetting? thopught one of you escort boys would know the score
(plenty of beans in the battery, its cranking lovely, and the metering unit is moving etc)

It Wasnt Me!
Is it possibly the fuel pump relay? or the ignition amplifier?
i know you say it's getting 12v ignition live an earthed, but maybe if these parts are fooked it may not work!
try a seperate earth and a wire from battery to fuel pump. see if it works then.
If not, then i'd say it was new fuel pump time!

When you say Fuel Pump Relay, do you mean the Injection Module one? The pink relay? If so i have 2 of them - one was in the loom, and one is brand new... neither make any difference.
Just i cant see anything in the wiring diagrams to do with a Pump Relay?

Its 12 volts right to the Pump. And the continuity on the earth is spot on.
Can i just check there is no Fuel Pump relay that i am missing? The pump takes its feed from the Fuel Injection Module Relay yeah?

Even though you have good continuity it doesnt rule out a bad connection or faulty wire. If a wire has 100 strands and 99 of them are broken you will still have continuity down the wire however, once the wire is under load there will be excessive voltage drop down the wire.

Just tried it with the earth where it is on the car, and connecting the pumps live feed to the battery and it worked fine. So it must be the live.
Rewired from the pumps live feed, to the pink fueling relay, but with no luck. But this time it was only getting about 9 or 10 volts, so i hope its just the battery now.
