Default pinking at 125+

elp peeps

the estate (rst) is pinking at about 125 + on the speedo, i'd rather it dint blow up really so whats easiest and cheapest way to fix it??

im thinking maybe wire up a switched feed to the cold start so that would act as a 5th injector but there is prob a reason i shudnt do that

also this meter head mod ppl say about, what do i need to do??

its a life or death thing chaps (for my engine neways)

Ta

ps cant go getting it propperly set up as i have had bad experiences b4 and dont really wanna spunk the dough either cos i do have spare engines if the need arose

pinking could be the timing aswell, but it could be your chip faulty, or its running out of fuel, the mod you can do is on the little black box on the side of the metering unit, take it off take it apart theres a screw in there what needs turning a bit, i wouldnt recommend doing without a fuel check though

You must be mad if you'd rather fuck about swopping an engine over for the sake of Ł80 getting your fueling checked over Its no wonder RS Turbos end up with a reputation of being unreliable!!

They are only unreliable if you run them at 125+ whilst there pinking and then try and fix the fueling problem without knowing what your doing.

If a full day of your time is only worth Ł80 then fair enough go for it.

Although its actually costing you about Ł170 ( Ł80 - Ł250 [minimum value of your spare engines]. Its a false economy no matter how you look at it.....its a no brainer for me

Maybe if you dropped the attitude m8 you would get more help,as i stated above if you knock back the timing a bit that will stop it pinking.

I agree mate, a properly set up rs can be a very reliable car if looked after.
Its a very delicate system, needs somebody who knows how to set it up right.

ksa74f/231bhp,
i will be sorting the timing mate, i havent a attitude towards any 1 who actually helps me out (and i help out plenty of others with their problems too) but when its not helping and is nowt to do with any thing then i dont see what i should let it go, surley its up to me what i do with my stuff and if i wanna change engines or not and the reason i dont wanna set up is stated in the 1st post

i dont trust em all i hear is bad things about em all and have seen 1st hand sum1 do a rr set up and it made the car worse and within a month killed it (eh jon)

neways with a bit of luck ill get it on the machines at my missuses old mans garage so the fueling and timing will be set up mint, its having new oil and filter this aft and maybe a cambelt next week if i have 1 kickin about

mate, i dont blame you for not trusting tuners as who do know who to trust and your right it is your car.....but you are the typical no brain rs turbo owner with no clue!!

missus drives an rs turbo , we have had it 13 months now and it has been ultra reliable running 190hp , so dont talk shit saying they are un-reliable.

maybe its the Ł100 engines you are buying

back to your question , are you sure you can hear pinking at 125 , cause i cant even hear people in the back at 80mph

the only thing i dont know abut is the pinking so i have asked, otherwise i do my best to answer ppls problems and not to tell em that are dicks for asking

look around, every1 saying turbos are soo very reliable???
i think not

most ppl are askin whats up with em cos they aint running or are playin up a treat

i aint sayin there less reliable than owt else but u would never say they were nice reliable cars , my missuses si is just as bad but thats another story

any1 else thats being soo helpful as to help me with my problems, or do you just wanna whinge at me- like i really give a shit

set your Co at 3.5% mate, and check it at 3500 rpm, other than that its the timing, which has been covered above

blimey grimmer 3.5??

the missuses mk6 si had to be .3 on idle and .3 at 3k to (maybe 2k wernt really listening after i was told how much the bits were to fix it, cat, lambda, etc) to pass emmisions

i glad i dont have to go thru all that mot polava with the estate
new cars have got a lot to live up too when emmisions come into it

as for the pinking i wanted to get it sorted 2day but missuses old man had gone off to shoot some wildlife so it'll wait til next weekend, least she got new oil filter and few other bits 2day (shown up the cam needs swapping )

turned me boost down to save getting the urge on the way to fitp 2morra
even gave it a wash, not that it shows
