Default PLEASE HELP !!! s2 fuel problem...

Hi,

More problems

Car cut out today and wouldn't start again so I called out the RAC. He eliminated the problem to something to do with the metering unit. There's fuel going in but none coming out of the injector pipes on top, what could this be ? He said it could either be a problem internally with the metering unit or the electro magnetic pressure actuator on the side, anyone else any ideas ? Is there a fuel ecu located near the main ecu, are these prone to failure ? ( where is the main ECU on s2's )
Any help much appreciated as I have to use the car on tuesday for work

Cheers, Duncan

update...........just been looking on a website which says a computerised module (fuel ecu ?) receives signals about the engines condition and alters the electrical current supplied to the pressure actuator ! now when then RAC bloke was testing stuff he said there was voltage coming out of the plug that plugs into the pressure actuator, so does this mean the pressure actuator is broken as there is voltage going to it but no fuel coming out or does is not matter whether there is voltage coming out of the fuel ecu ? ie. when the fuel ecu is broken is there no voltage coming out of it at all ?

a very confused Duncan

yeah, will probably have to take it to a garage in the end mate but I'm just trying to get my head around how it all works Just out of intrest how did the specialist who worked on your metering unit get it to work ? did he change the pressure actuator on the side ? Anybody any ideas as to what could be causing the problem ?

I have a spare electro magnetic pressure actuator on its own and a spare metering head that works for definate but needs a new lower casing (cause I nicked it to put on mine when I broke it ) but you have one of these, will need the cork gasket thou . PM if you do mate.

Silly Q but to confirm, NO fuel is reaching the injectors yea?

yeah, the RAC bloke undid the nut a little bit on the pipe going in to the metering head and the fuel squirted out but when he undid one of the injector pipes on top nothing at all came out.

Does anyone know whether this could be metering head related or fuel ecu related as supposidly when you unplug the electro magnetic pressure actuator the car should still start, but I tried that today (unplugged it) and the car still didn't start ?

the fuel ecu controls the elecromagnet. If there is no fuel getting to injectors at all, its not electrical.

If there is no fuel getting to injectors at all, its not electrical.
So it is probably a problem internally with the actual metering head / fuel distribution unit ?

It should be going to a Bosch specialist garage in the next couple of days, depending on what they change etc.. will I have to get all my fueling set up again on the car ?
