Default how much is it worth?

i started a major restoration project on my G-reg s2 about a year ago now and made for a good start, unfortunatly im at a point in my life where im having to asses what is really important to me.

i started by stripping the car back to a bare shell every nut and bolt has been taken off, then sent the car for sand blasting,of corse with every escort of this age found a fair bit of rust,i then set about finding a proffessional restorer to carry out the welding and bodywork,i was in the fortunate possition where i was not overlly concerned with cost only the best workmanship,i came about someone to carry out this work who done a faultless job,he done me a full brakedown of hours spent and on what areas of the car with cost, also pictures of before after and during all areas of work, the sunroof tray and roof were in a poor state and after much consideration decided to opt for a carbon fibre roof which was bought for £500.

the car at the minute is all welded up a quick summary of what been done are sills, inner sills, rear inner and outer arches, chasis rails, drivers a-pillar,wings,fuse box area and battery tray on the bulkhead and a few minnor parts on the floor,i must stress how good the job was that he done.the car is sitting in primer needing only the smallest skiming of filler before spraying.

im looking to sell the car how it is with all parts that came off except engine, gearbox and turbo.to date i have spent upwards off £5000.i know that i cant get anywhere near that for it but what realistically could i ask for?thankyou for your time

south of 1000 if its just a non painted shell i reckon, maybe 1500 with the roof, but imo opinion that makes it harder to sell

Shame that mate! Sounds like the majority of the hard work has been done! Without pics though everybody will just be guessing a price!

i would of thought getting 1000 back would be doing well as there's still a grand in body shop then finding a replacement engine, turbo etc that you've removed then all the hours to put it together etc and a low miler minter can be had for 4500 upwards so who ever is looking at this will be thinking of that no it's not what you want to hear but times are hard right now best of luck if you sell it

unfortunetly series 2 shells are pretty worthless now i a bare metal restored shell cost of £4k+ sold for 800 pounds it was freshly painted and rolling just needed running gear to finish it off.

its a great project for someone to pick up from if works been done well but still will have spend realistic around the £2k mark ON A DECENT paintjob whats the point doing all the hardwork just for one of the 500-800 blowover jobs but its still a whole car needing to built up from scratch i think the time and effort involved puts alot of people off when you can get clean sorted cars for 4-5k.

if someones after a project perfect but imo i think around 500 pound mark

I would think £1500 if it was painted and mint but with no paint i'm unsure, i think for some the lack of roof/carbon roof may be a bit of a put off aswell.
for so much money spent, if you have all the bits it may be worth completing with a nice paintjob- decent very clean s2's are worth 4/5k now.

Even the low mileage so called minters nowadays can hide nasty surprises so imho the best escorts are the ones restored already to a high standard and you know you arent going to find any nasty surprises! Maybe just store the shell if possible and sell at a later date!
