Default Problem starting

Car wont start unless timing is advanced, when catches retard timing and runs sweet as a nut, when warm autochoke cuts off, ticks over nicely and runs well.

Would appear to be a fuelling prob of some sort as try to start and it wants to fire but wont until timing is advanced.

Spark is there all the time (New Dizzy and Coilpack), Fuel pump primes when switch ignition on.

Car is a 1990 ERST, recently undergone full engine rebuild, cam, followers, tappets, head gasket set, bottom end, rings etc.

Always started on the button before rebuild but big ends were rattling and so was the cam hence full rebuild.

Is getting on my tits now, shame I don't have a box of matches handy.

Al

engine will be tight so will be slower cranking over possibly, cold start valve DEFFO comming on? if not check it and thermo time switch. try starting it holding the metering flap down a few mm, is it possible its flooding when u turn it over cos engine will be tight? get it started, set up on a RR and take it for a 1000mile drive lol

Played again with it and would appear fuel is running back from the lines as leave it a couple of mins and it starts but leave it 1/2 hour and she won't start, tries to catch but doesn't, it's as if there is air in the system or fuel is running back down the lines ?

Is there a return valve somewhere to stop fuel from running back when car is switched off ?

I believe there is something that keeps the pressure in the system, I think its called the fuel accumilator and its before the filter but Im not too sure, can anyone confirm ?

Accumulator's not hissing, and all electrical plugs are giving readings so next on the agenda is to change fuel pump.

Fuel pump is priming as can hear it buzzing, just doesn't appear to be pushing fuel up though.

Fuel pump relay, will have a look for this. Cheers.
