cold start problems

Default cold start problems

any ideas guys my car is a right pig to start when cold she just spins over but wont fire have to pump the pedal to get it to catch , once warm she starts fine first turn of the key

ive had the same prob...i used to get sum1 to press the "flap" down on the metering head while i turned the key..when on my own i wedged it open with a bit fag box or summat till i could get it set up

cold start injector unplugged?

multy plugs on the wrong way round?

mine was always a pig to start cos it kept comin off

Check the following:

- Auxiliary air valve device, (rear from inlet manifold)
- Cold start injector and all injectors (maybe are faulty)
- Termo-time switch sensor (inlet manifold down cold start injector)

Also will be ok check and clean pluggs.

wonder if its the cold start valve it did the same with the old engine and when i changed engine i used my old inlet with all the injectors and sensors , still got the one from the new engine somewhere in the workshop so might try changing it

If the above doesnt sort it then could be a simple as your idle mixture, if pushing the flap down makes it start like dangerousbrian's then it's either the idle mixture or cold start injector.

will it make a difference with the blue cold start plug off?
as mine seems to run better with it off @ the mo......

not tried that

cant see its the mixture as the car was only set up on the rollers 2 weeks ago

just disconnect the cold start valve and see how it starts then!!!

My S2 has started to do the same i have tryed disconnecting the cold start valve but it makes it more harder to start
