how do you remove the ignition barrel on a s1/mk3 escort & how do you remove the ignition barrel housing from the collumn also as thats the bit thats fucked on mine

then un screy the two wiper stalks,
then litterally gran the metal thats left and wank it of,
to ge tth ebarrel out, i think theres a sort of retaining latch, lever than in the loever the barrel out.
good luck getting the new metal housing though

ive already got the new housing (ebay fro a tenner
) i just cant get the barrel off & i cant get the old housing off the collumn with out breaking it

you wont get that housing off the column without destroying the column, thats 99.9% guaranteed.
The barrel has to be turned to position 1 to come out, if you can't do that you'll have to destroy it to get it out.

if you look closely, that screw is driven in and then it snaps off so it can't be removed.
Where theres a will theres a way, but how you guna get the replacement one on? Is it second hand?

As safechav says, turn barrel to position 1 with the key, once you've done that look on the underside of the barrell, you'll see a space on the outer casing, there is a brass coloured spring clip in that space, push a small screwdriver up to push in the clip, pull on key and the barrell will slide out.
In theory it should be that easy but I tend to have to wiggle it a bit to get it out, or prise it out with a flat screwdriver. You need to push in that clip though

ok ive just got the ignition barrel out no bother cheers folkr, safechav the new housing doesnt have any screw but looking at the old one on the column i see what you mean as it doe look broken off, i'll try that later
