Default Group A coil or not

Hi all, want to replace my current cheap europarts ignition coil on my 144bhp ERST not sure im getting a decent cold start spark.

Should I get a group A coil or is this a bit unessasary

or a standard bosch coil? http://www.burtonpower.com/bosch-blu...221119027.html

and.... do I need the little ballast resistor?

Thanks in advance folks

I've had a Magentti Marelli group A one on my ERST for several years an it's still going strong. Was only £7 more than a bosch std replacement and there's no loom for them, you just change the connectors to spade. They'll even fit using the original bolt holes.

The loom is just a rely that is triggered from the original coil wiring which then switches a feed direct from the battery to the coil. That way you no you have good voltage at the coil and not power going through old wiring that could have a resistance in it

No harm in that.

There is no point going with an aftermarket coil ; I have had no end of trouble with them, often giving me more issues than when I had the original item on?

However, check your wiring and ensure that you are getting 12V at the coil.
