have been driving my car round faultlessly for god knows how long, was set up on the rollers few weeks back, afr was spot on all the time i was there 14.7, had no probs whatsoever, drove it straight into the garage, now converting to efi (see sig!!) have taken metering head off put it on the floor then sold it to a fella who has rung me up today saying his mechanics telling him its fooked coz he's pushed down the plunger and it hasnt sprung back up... is it fooked, should they spring back up when theyre off the car?? as i say, car ran faultlessly till i took it to bits, i dont know an awful lot about how the head's work so any help would be greatly appreciated...

mine sprung back up when not on the car. Sounds like the spring has either snapped or come off.

heres a pic of mine when i took it apart, you can see the spring im on about.

As said the spring may have come off or the guy is just trying it on

is the spring the thing that normally stops them working, can you get hold of new ones?

A metering unit will stop working if the spring has come off but there are alot of other reasons why one might not work aswell(and there usally nothing to do with the spring )

good chance he's trying it on,prob tryin to fob you off with his old fooked one

as far as i know, his mechanic hasnt fitted it, he came round and first thing he said was, its fooked, thats as far as it went... cant believe a spring could just pop off or break by simple removal, its been bouncin around in the car for years!!! dont think he;s tryin it on, didnt really know much about rs turbos, hence why he has a mechanic i guess... dunno wot to do, as i say, it was in perfect workin order when it came off the car... would u give him his money back..???

he mite mean it dint spring up rather than just bob up, til they have fuel pressure they are a bit easy to pop up and down

tell him to stop moanin and fit it
