Default help with starting my car please!!!!!

Hi people. Ive just put my engine back in. It now turns over but wont start, no spark from the distributor. there are no dashboard lights also. I had them and wipers/lights for one turn of the key but not again. How can I get this going???/?How many earths are there and where are they. I missed the starter to gearbox one at first and when i tried it the dash lights came on but it didnt fire up. Now there are no dash lights!!! Help would be much appreciated as I really need this back on the road asap and its soooo close.

No offence taken mate. battery is fooked but i put a booster pack on it, which helped it turn over a lot.

i had the same a while ago, i trickle charged my battery for a day, tried cranking the next day and it used the power from the batt straight away, i thought the batt wasnt holding the charge

as a last atempt i jump started mine from another car and let the alternator charge it and its fine now

mine was sitting for 5 months

Right guys, update. got a new battery. Cranked over stright away. Problem is i've only got cylinders 1 and 4 going and all 4 spoark plugs spark. need it running sweetly so I can bed the cam in. Before it fooked itself it did seem to idle nicely and run fine so im not sure what is wrong, must be something since ive refitted the engine. Does any1 have any ideas?thanks scott
ooo there was a fuel leak from the back which is a mish to tighten up. Also the injectors have side to side play in the inlet(is that bad), Had to do two up as fuel leaked out.

try takin off the built in fuse on the coil feed wires, should leave a male and female bullet plug, join them and see if you get a rev counter

All four cylinders are exploding. when u pull an ht out 1 and 4 leads almost make it die
2 and 3 have a smaller effect but it still almost dies. Its popping and farting
tried turning crank 180. no change
tired adjusting distributor, not change, still popps and idles like crap and shales like hell. any ideas before i tow it to power and get a huge bill to get it going ok, metering unit shud be ok, worked nicely before head went tits up
thanks for any helps guys

Unplugged the grey lead from the mfi by the inner wing. ran pefectly. it then wudnt start properly but not plugged the grey lead back in and the car starts and idles fine. next problem brakes!!!!!. came on on the m25 by themselves and stopped me full stop, smoking like fooook.
Did the same today stopeed me at traffic lights. Undo the vacuuam and they kidna go back to normal. Been told the servo is foooked?????. I have a 23 master cylinder with the abs ripped out.
Does 1 servo fit all mk4 escorts?also no petrol guage, dash lights and rev counter still and im pretty sure all the wires are plugged in the back and fuses seem fine

think just front. AA towed it with front wheels lifted. when it got home wheels were cold as so hadnt overheatd i think??. drive it up the road, is fine but after a 5-10 mins they seize again. also brake lights were on constantly tonight when i took it for a drive round the block and got home.

Also anyone had prob with mounting a scorpion exhaust. Ive got 2 rubbers, one on rear silencer and one before it by rear floor. there is nothing on the chassis to hold the bend under rear beam bit and it touches the floor almost by handbrake split left to right.?????
cheers people
