On to the pc hard-drive.
Is it possible?
I know you can copy the saved programmes onto a dvd or vhs, should you still have a vhs recorder
or even a dvd player/burner.
Anyone shed some light on this for me?

Can't get it off the hard disk as far as I know, it's a proprietary format and nobody that I know of has managed to get anything off it.
Best bet is to get a DVD recorder, but, some programmes (mainly films and per per view stuff) are macrovision protected, meaning the recording on vhs or dvd will be crap, if at all viewable.
Don't you lurve sky !!!

Our's has packed up after only 3 months of use
Engineer is coming out Monday to sort/replace the box which means i'm going to lose all the stuff i've recorded

I thought you could output the recordings using the copy facility?
I haven't actually tried it yet, but there's a 2nd output aspect ratio setting, so I assume you just hook it to your dvd recorder and se it to copy.

You should be able to ouput to the pc using the copy to feature providing your pc has a video capturing device and phono inputs. If you are unsure this is a capture box.

This is a budget one and will use your pc to encode the video to a format called AVI. From this format it can then be encoded to dvd if you wish.

It is so that if your main TV is 16:9 and you bedroom TV is square (4:3), you can watch either in the correct format, however, whichever format is selected is outputted on all outputs at the same time, so it's only any good if you only watch one TV at a time.
I recall the above from a review or something, may not be 100% accurate.
To record onto DVD you would be much better off using either the scart or s-video outputs tbh.
They don't used s'video (do they?, never used to on sky anyway)
The engineer linked our 2nd output up to the dvd recorder, but I haven't actually found anything to keep yet, so I haven't tried copying anything

I've just bought a 200GB hard drive for the pc and would (if i can) like to get some of my programmes on there to watch/record onto dvd.
Anyone suggest a good tv card for me?

Oh bugger so it has (just checked)
I think I'll ditch the scart in that case as it's only composite I think
