SCART can carry RGB which is better than s-video, so, if your DVD recorder or whatever you have connected to it supports RGB input, stick to SCART. Might be worth checking your DVD and SKY menus

but my RGB is already routed to my plasma screen
(or will the sky+ do 2 RGB outputs? never thought to check that
), so that leaves me with s-video which my amp can convert to component
