The 2nd output aspect ratio thing only works if you have a sky remote eye plugged into it.

It is so that if your main TV is 16:9 and you bedroom TV is square (4:3), you can watch either in the correct format, however, whichever format is selected is outputted on all outputs at the same time, so it's only any good if you only watch one TV at a time.

I recall the above from a review or something, may not be 100% accurate.

To record onto DVD you would be much better off using either the scart or s-video outputs tbh.
