Cvh Mk4 Timing Help
Hi looking for a bit help. Just done my cylinder head and cant get timing belt to line up.
I align the 2 markings up tdc but when i rotate it by hand the crankshaft pulley ends up a couple of notchs out.
Thanks for any help.

I am going to try lining the cam bang on and the crank 2 notchs out left then right - see if after my 2 spins by hand it still lines up? totally stumped why its not lining back up.
Sounds... wrong?
What did you do? And what parts did you change? As usually all parts on the CVH are interchangeable the risk of using a "wrong" belt or camshaft pulley is down to zero. And changing/putting on the cambelt on a CVH is nearly an idiot proof job.
So the only two things I could think of are
1. camshaft woodruff key fell out, camshaft won't turn as much as the camshaft pulley does
2. crankshaft woodruff key fell out, engine turns fine but the marking on the crankshaft pulley won't line up after the engine was rotated because the pulley is moving not as much (ore more) as the crankshaft.

on a second thought...
Camshaft would probably not move at all, but as the crankshaft (pulley) and the camshaft pulley are linked together by the cambelt, the markings will line up nicely all the time.
So go for No. 2!
