Hi all

Just changing my fanbelt(alternator) on my car as the old one had perished slightly, how tight should it be i understand you have to use a bar or something to lever it , just wondering how tight

Thanks

it should be tight so that there is minimal play in the belt. But not so tight that there is no play at all. Sometimes its a bit of a game of getting it tight enough so its not slipping but not so tight its gonna snap!

I always work on that you should be able to twist the belt 90° at a point halfway between the 2 pulleys.
